Last Sunday, Leonard Eaglecloud shared a story that works wonderfully with our Investigation of the 9 Insights we are doing this month. (from the book The Celestine Prophecy)

One fall, he and a young woman were sitting under a gorgeous maple tree, playing music, with hats in front of them to accept donations from passers by. They started talking and the young woman shared with him that she really needed $20, yet her hat was empty. Leonard asked her to know there were angels everywhere, and to believe she would have the help she needed.

They sat in silence for a moment, Leonard praying for her and the young woman breathing into believing. As they opened their eyes, a large beautifully coloured leaf floated down from the tree, landing right in her hat. A taxi stopped, a man jumped out, and with a thick accent, said he had to have that leaf! He was heading to the airport on his way home and wanted to share the colours of fall with his family. He reached in his wallet, took out his last Canadian twenty, exchanged it for the leaf, jumped back in the taxi and was gone!

Was that man an angel? Maybe. Was this a coincidence? Not!! An awesome Infinite Intelligence made that man in that taxi notice that particular leaf as it just to be falling right into her hat! He also happened to have one Canadian twenty left. All of it occurred to respond to her request for $20!! How delightful it is to watch the workings of the Universe!! And how amazing to know that the whole Power of the Universe is behind our every request!!

I believe these “coincidences” are happening to all of us all the time. They are like Love Notes from the Universe. Let’s open our eyes to see the possibilities around us, accepting our Love Notes with joy and gratitude!! Start noticing the coincidences in your life and you will see how wonderfully the Universe works for and through you!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Today I recognize and acknowledge the awesome Power and Presence of the Universe in my life. I know It has always been here, is now, and always will be.

I now declare my eyes, heart and mind are open to see the Love Notes the Universe has for me. I am consciously aware of seeming coincidences, and recognize them as the workings of Infinite Intelligence in answer to my desires. I accept that there is so much more going on here than I could possibly ever imagine, and I am grateful to be able to recognize whatever part of It I can.

I know that as I open myself, I am opening to a greater experience of The Divine, not only for myself but for all. I celebrate my abilities and willingness to do this. I am grateful for my expanded awareness of Life. And so it is.

Dr. Holmes writes on pg 154 of the Science of Mind:

“Every day and every hour we are meeting the eternal realities of life, and in such degree as we co-operate with these eternal realities in love, in peace, in wisdom, and in joy – believing and receiving – we are automatically blessed.”

All of Life is telling us to open up to a greater realization of that Eternal Reality we call God. How do we do that? Religious Science gives us the great tools of Spiritual Mind Treatment, meditation, visualization, affirmations, etc., and we can use these tools to work with the answer that Dr. Holmes gave us in the above statement … Believing and Receiving.

Dr. Holmes truly believed this statement and was open to receiving the benefits of this statement being firmly established in mind. Because of this, we have our wonderful teaching, and many examples of how it works for all.

Believing means we can no longer tell the stories we’ve been using to excuse our lack and limitation. So many of us suffer from some degree of plomitus – “Poor Little Ole Me.” We unconsciously tell our stories every chance we get – not realizing that in our repetitions, the Universal Law is acting upon them, thereby making our stories even more real!

Receiving means trusting. Being willing to trust the Power that is greater than we are, and acting as if our desires have already been met.

So simple, yet not exactly easy! Today decide to set a part of your mind aside to act as your witness. Affirm that every time you launch into the latest rendition of your “story” something happens to gently and easily remind you that that story is no longer your Truth. Treat to open your mind, your heart and your whole being to receive more good, more God, in your life today!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

I recognize the Presence of Universal Power in my life right now. This Power is an emanation of Divine Life, and I am an expression of this Life. This Power works through spiritual Law and is unconditionally loving. It works for me by working through me, as me!

As I speak my word, the whole Universe is behind it. I declare I express physical, emotional and mental health. All the areas of my life reflect this Divine health. No longer are my finances, my work, my relationships, or my health affected by the stories I used to tell. Those stories no longer have any power. There is only One Power, and that Power is God. I believe and receive.

Gratefully I acknowledge my life as Divine Life made manifest. I celebrate the blessings in and of my life. I celebrate knowing that as I accept the Greater Good in my life, I do it not only for myself, but for everyone. I release this Treatment, knowing it is already so, and so it is.

Before I went to bed last night, I Treated (our word for affirmative prayer) to move into a greater sense of Inner Peace. You see, as much as I didn’t want to, I was experiencing a swarm of worries - about finances, my car, the slow growth of our new Centre, whether or not I am doing what I am supposed to be doing, etc., etc. etc.

Thank God I know Treatment works! I kept waking up every few hours, but instead of worrying, I could hear the lines of our Sunday morning opening song by Daniel Nahmod: “Oh my soul is welcome here. Oh my soul is welcome here. I am getting the message loud and clear - My soul is welcome here.”

This morning as I stopped in front my treasure map, I noticed a statement by Dr. Holmes I had placed in the center: “Everything in life responds to the song of the heart.” And I heard the rest of Daniel’s song … “I’m in the right place at the right time, I am just where I’m supposed to be …” God is such a giggle!!

What song is your heart singing? Mine had been singing poor little ole me songs for a little while. The Langley Centre was the dream of two people, and a third was invited to participate… then with death and decisions, I was left to do it myself - or rather, I choose to keep up the dream. I’ve done this before, so thought nothing of it … but it seems like it was easier twenty years ago in Hilo, Hawai’i, and besides, I was a lot younger J Part of that ole song seemed to be mighty familiar – “I have to do everything myself.” And so I feel I have been. Yet, is that the Truth?

NO! There is no way one could ever do anything all by themselves, as there is always the Powerful Presence of The Divine within us. This Presence has shown up as people to help, finances, love notes, and songs running through my mind, reminding me I am in my right place, and I am welcome here! J

In today’s 365 Science of Mind, Dr. Holmes writes: “We should sense the flow into our consciousness of the Divine Intelligence, a feeling that the creative imagination of the whole Universe is centered in us, and flowing through us. We should consciously practice this more abundant life, not necessarily for any specific thing or good we desire, but for the realization of the All-Good flowing through everything and everyone. Attuning our consciousness to this Divine abundance, automatically we find a betterment in everything we do, a broader and deeper experience, a higher realization, and a greater good.”

Here’s a song for our hearts to sing today: “Don’t worry, be happy!” Our happiness, in the midst of whatever experiences we are having, will attune us to our highest good. Thank God!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

I know there is One Life – God’s. I am grateful to be a conscious expression of that One Life. I allow the Uni-verse (one song) to sing Itself through me abundantly. I feel I am in the embrace of a warm, loving Presence forever seeking an outlet through me.

Through me, God sings a song of love and I experience it and share it willingly. It sings a song of peace and I feel it deep within me as it radiates from me. It sings of beauty, and joy and a deep soul sharing, and all who are near me experience it as well. God’s Life is my life, and it is a good one! It is filled with abundance, laughter, love, health, creativity and all that my soul desires.

Gratefully I release these words, knowing they are my Truth. And so it is.

Monday I got to ride in Brad McPhee’s new Jaguar. Whoo Hoo! Some of you know that a Jaguar is my dream car so it was a delightful experience. When Brad was bringing me home, as I started to give him directions, he pushed a button on a screen and showed me how the car’s G.P.S. worked. A map of our exact location came to the screen and a woman’s voice told us when we would turn and how far to drive before the turn. Then again, just before we got to each turn, she’d tell us again. It seemed to me that there would be no way one could get lost with this system.

As I marveled at it, I suddenly realized there was a tiny part of me that wished I could just be told what to do at every moment. It seemed like it would make life so much easier if I didn’t always have to be in charge of my life. I quickly got over it, however, as I imagined how dull life would be if all I could do was follow directions and didn’t get to use my mind.

Just as quickly, I also realized, as Dr. Holmes writes in the Science of Mind: “The one seeking to demonstrate the power of spiritual realization in everyday affairs should believe in Divine guidance. They should affirm that their mind is continually impressed with the images of right action, and that everything in their life is controlled by love, harmony and peace; that everything they do prospers, and that the Eternal Energy back of all things animates everything which they undertake.”

Ah ha! There is our own GPS - God Provides System J !! With mental maps, images and voice already installed. And in no way do we lose our autonomy. Just like Brad had to program the computer with my address, so we have to choose what we want to experience. The Divine will give us messages from every corner of the universe as to the highest and best methods to fulfill our choices. We have to be still, and listen, and then of course, choose to follow through.

As Dr. Holmes writes: “Let us feel that our purposes are animated and inspired from on high and then let us go forth and make our dream come true in human experience. With an invisible Intelligence to guide, and an immutable Law to direct, let us take our place in any legitimate activity, and thus cause our dreams to come to full fruition.”

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

The Center of Divine Mind is everywhere, the circumference nowhere. This Mind is infinitely intelligent and everywhere present. I am a point of God-consciousness made manifest right here and now. I am an expression of Truth in action.

I choose to be divinely guided into right action at every moment. Everything I say, do and think is motivated by Truth. I accept only the highest and best desires to be fulfilled through and as me, and there is continuous right action in my affairs at all times. My God Provides System is fully activated!! All my ideas are divine ideas. I do the right thing at the right time in ease and grace.

I am so grateful I can trust the Spirit of Truth within me. I know my word is Law and as I speak this word, all that I need to fulfill it is already here. I release this Treatment with calm confidence that it is so. And so it is.

Recently I was e-mailed this question:

“I’ve been reading about Mercury in retrograde, and Uranus and Pluto in square.... which might explain at least a part of the total chaos many of us have been experiencing. I really tend to doubt these suggestions, but it does seem like it’s a "universal" problem, like someone slipped something into the water! And if we are all responsible for our own creations...how does all this fit?

Excellent question! Let me respond by sharing a simple question asked by Dr. Tom Costa (founder of the Palm Desert, CA. C.R.S.)

“If you’re not using your mind, who is?”

Every Sunday I state that our Centre is a spiritual re-fueling station, where we have the opportunity to refresh our minds and hearts and remember the Truth of our being. It’s an opportunity to once again choose what we want in and for our lives after a week of media and other types of mesmerization, including the mesmerization of our own self-talk.

Yes, we are responsible for our own creations and if we’re not consciously choosing every second, we get to “go with the flow.” Remember that phrase?? It’s not such a good saying these days as the collective unconscious seems to be filled with fear and negativity.

Someone once said “If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.” For instance: if the news is predicting “flu season” and we are not consciously choosing health, we will experience the flu.

I believe the responsibility of Religious Scientists and all Truth students, is to rise above the negativity the world seems to want us to believe in. Funny thing is – we are the world. So let’s go deeper. The Truth is: We walk in the atmosphere of our own believing. Our world is the way it is because we have accepted it as being that way. Our beliefs add to the collective unconscious or subjective mind. We use that one mind. We get to experience the effects of what we have accepted.

I’m not going to negate the possibility of the effects of the ancient sciences, but I do know this: It is done unto us as we believe. Choose carefully what you want to believe in. Our responsibility is to change our focus, to change what we will accept for our lives and the lives of others.

How do we begin? Think about God instead. Recreate your beliefs about our world. In Truth, we live in a positive, peaceful world, filled with health, love, prosperity and creativity. Let it be so for you, and act as if everything you do makes a difference, because it does!!

There is only One Life – that Life is Spirit, and that Life is my life. I rejoice in this Truth. Who I am is much greater than I possibly could imagine. All that Spirit is, I am. I am infinitely intelligent, unconditionally loving, everywhere present and all powerful.

Knowing this, I realize my responsibility as a Spiritual Being experiencing humanness. If there is anything in my world I want to change, it is up to me. I carry the Light into the dark corners. I do this by paying attention. I pay attention to my dominant thoughts and feelings. I pay attention to what I believe about myself and my Self. I know they are the same. It is up to me to reveal the Power and Presence within me that outpictures as my clear mind and pure heart.

I declare I am all that I am meant to be. Spirit in form, living with ease and grace. Serving my Self in all forms of life. We are all One.

With a grateful heart, I release these words into Spiritual Law, knowing they are so, and so it is.

Shift in Paradigm

Oprah Winfrey said "When you shift your paradigm to what you can do for others,
you begin to accelerate your own  evolution and trigger a bounty of  blessings.
What have you done today?"  

This month we are focusing on prosperity.  I believe a key component in living
a more prosperous life is service.  One of the greatest ways we can be of service
is to consistently work on our consciousness.  In a children’s book called
Dinotopia, there is a concept that reads “One raindrop raises the sea.”  As each
of us reveals our Divine Consciousness, we are upping the level of the
collective consciousness.  And this is a very good thing!

In surfing the internet one evening I came upon the history of ServiceMaster,
a conglomerate of cleaning companies that has been in business since 1929,
and was struck by this paragraph:

Founded as a moth-proofing company in 1929 by Marion E. Wade, a former minor league baseball player, ServiceMaster had its beginnings in Chicago where Wade worked out of his home. Wade had a strong personal faith and a desire to honor God in all he did. Translating this into the marketplace, he viewed each individual employee and customer as being made in God's image - worthy of dignity and respect. His successors, Ken Hansen and Ken Wessner, also shared this view. These three leaders shaped what became our Company objectives: To honor God in all we do; To help people develop; To pursue excellence; and To grow profitably.

“He viewed each employee and customer as being made in God’s image – worthy of dignity and respect.” WOW! What an amazing concept for a business!! This is what Religious Science teaches as well. We say all of life, and everything in it, is God. There is nothing but God. It is our right and our responsibility to honour and respect every aspect of God that shows up in our lives, whether it be in our home or our workplace. It is our pleasure to be the vehicle for The Divine to be expressed in our world.

The late Fred Rogers, of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, said: "At the center of the Universe is a loving heart that continues to beat and that wants the best for every person. Anything we can do to help foster the intellect and spirit and emotional growth of our fellow human beings, that is our job. Those of us who have this particular vision must continue against all odds. Life is for service."

So, what will you do today?

There is One Life – God – forever manifesting as an infinite variety of forms. I am one of these forms, and I am grateful to know myself as being a unique expression of a limitless and ever present Power for good.

This Good moves though me in the form of service. Regardless of how the world tries to tell my efforts are futile, I choose to be one who makes a difference. I step forward and allow the Universe to use me in the way that is the most beneficial for all concerned. I open my mind, my heart and my arms to my fellow travelers on this Path called Life. I observe my thoughts and patterns, making course corrections along the way. I continually study Truth, allowing It to be revealed in Its wholeness through me.

I give thanks for being able to be of service to my world. My consciousness reflects the Divinity within, my soul magnifies the Law, and only good surrounds me and all in my atmosphere. We are blessed. Together we raise the level of the collective consciousness so we all know the Truth of our being. This Truth is God.

Gratefully I release these words, accepting them as true. And so it is.

For our last Friday in the month of Love, I’d like to share with you Dr. Holmes’ (the founder of Religious Science) writing for today from 365 Science of Mind:

I Open Myself to Greater Love

Love is more than a sentiment. It is a need, a hunger, a thirst that is perfectly natural. Anyone who thinks they can live and be happy without it does not know what they are talking about – psychologically, emotionally, or spiritually. Love is the beginning and end, the impulse in nature that will not be denied.

Let us think back beyond the individual to the Source of all life. I believe that the whole universe is the givingness of the Creative Spirit – to the delight of Its own Being – into the creation that is Itself in that creation. Love is the principle of Life, for it is the nature of everything to give. Only the one who loves so much that there is no longer any room for hate will ever arrive at the place where, if there may be hate, they will never know it. We are afraid of greatness because we are so tied down to littleness. We clutch the littleness anxiously and jealously, but so precariously, to our hearts. It is essential to see beyond the littleness to something bigger. None of us is as perfect in expression as we ought to be. So the challenge to each of us is to be great enough to rise in love, in charity, through understanding and compassion. Love is the lodestone of life.

I respond lovingly to all persons. Recognizing that the spiritual life is the real life, I surround myself with love, the key to joyous loving.

Dr. Holmes challenges each of us is to be great enough to rise in love. This is the supreme challenge – are you up to it?

The Master Jesus told us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Let’s love ourselves enough to honour our greatness and share that love with all, and then we will be one of those that will never know hate.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

God is Love, an unconditional energy that flows throughout the universe. It surrounds me, fills me up and I know the heart of God is my home.

No longer do I refuse to let Love in. In all areas of my life, I let go of the feelings of littleness, and choose to accept my birthright of Divine Love. This is what God is, and I am Love made manifest.

Divine Love completes and fulfills me. It takes me to the deepest part of myself – Its own Self. I let myself share this love with a never ending joy, creating peace and harmony everywhere I go. Life is transformed by my willingness to accept my greatness in Love.

Gratefully I release these words to spiritual law, knowing they are already done. And so it is.

Emma Curtis Hopkins, the metaphysical “teacher of teachers” said “There is an instinctive seeking of all things for love.”

I dropped by a pet shop near my market the other day, and the owner brought out a five month old ferret named Cola. The little darling sniffed me, then jumped into my arms and curled up, looking up at me with me the sweetest look. It was like she was saying “I’m home!” I lost my heart right in that moment!

The people who know me well will have a hard time believing this – but I made the decision NOT to bring her home. She’s still in my heart, and as I think about her, I’ve also thought about decisions and how we make them. I realized that though this was about an animal, it could very well have been something about relationships.

Faced with the same “falling in love with an animal” situation in the past, I would make the decision on impulse, going for the first choice presented to me and not really thinking about the consequences. Perhaps I would rationalize it with fatalistic approach – it must be meant to happen, since I just happened to be in that store when the ferret was out of the cage. Maybe I would be compliant – listening to the pet shop owner’s stories of how cats and ferrets get along great, and how Cola seemed so taken with me, and go along with his opinions. I could have delayed making a decision, because I felt like I couldn’t at the moment, and I could have agonized over the decision, feeling overwhelmed by the rush of love I felt and unable to make up my mind, and made one just to get it over with.

How about you? What is your basic decision making strategy? Each of us has our own, yet I believe we vacillate between the ones I mentioned above. The optimal strategy is, of course, to weigh all the factors, and then go for the highest and best for all concerned. We are making decisions moment by moment that affect not only ourselves but everyone around us and more people than we can imagine.

“There is an instinctive seeking of all things for love.” All of us have made some “interesting” decisions when it comes to love, eh? Let’s be balanced decision-makers. Perhaps we could ask ourselves “What is the highest Love in this situation?” and move forward from that place.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

There is One Mind – God’s Mind. It is Infinitely Intelligence and Unconditional Love. This Mind surrounds me, encompasses me, guides me and works through me at all times.

Infinite Intelligence moves through me in alignment with my thoughts and feelings. I now declare I recognize Divine Mind as a Power for Good in my world. All of my decisions are made with ease and grace. All of my decisions are balanced and are for the highest and best for all concerned. Every effect I make upon my world is a good one so I choose Love and I trust Infinite Intelligence to do It greatest work through and as me.

I am grateful to know I have the ability to tap into Divine Mind with ease. I am grateful to know I am making a difference in my world. I release these words knowing they are my Truth, and so it is.

Years ago when I had just moved to Honolulu, HI, I was having a very hard time finding employment. Driving home after a particularly disappointing interview, I noticed a sign reading "Foster Gardens." Nature has always soothed my soul, so I quickly pulled in. I walked through the greeness of the park, yet this time nature didn't seem to be helping. I couldn't get rid of my frustration.
At one point, I turned a corner around a tall hedge and discovered a very large statue of a seated Buddha. He had a serene smile, as if he knew the secret of inner peace and was enjoying himself immensley. I found myself yelling "How do I get that peace? What do I have to do?" Instantly I heard a voice say, "True peace is the Love of God." I looked around to see who had answered me, but I was alone with the statue. I sat down on a bench and argued with the Buddha. I told him I was studying for the ministry. I was doing my spiritual practices daily and loved doing them. I was doing all I knew how to love God, yet I didn't feel peaceful. Again I heard so clearly "True peace is the Love of God."

With a flash of enlightenment that I felt throughout my whole body, I realized that it was through acceptance of the Love of God that I would find Inner Peace! I didn't have to do anything for it, I just had to accept it!

I still know this is the Truth. God is Love, and God is omnipresent. Love is absolutely everywhere. There is no place I could go to get away from It. If I feel unloved, it is because I have not accepted this as my Truth. If I am feeling lack in any area of my life, it is because I am feeling separate from Love. All the love that I feel from and for the people, places, pets, etc., in my life, is Divine Love.

Love is what I am.

Following in the energy of Valentine's Day, allow yourself some quiet time and feel the Love the Universe has for you. I KNOW Divine Love Notes are in every breath, and everything we hear, taste, touch, smell and see. Hear the Inner Voice as It says to you "You are My Beloved, in whom I am well pleased."

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

There is only One Life – that Life is Spirit, and that Life is my life. There is only One Heart expressing Divine Love. This is my home. Divine Love expresses through and as me. I rejoice in this Truth. Who I am is much greater than I possibly could imagine. I am The Divine’s Beloved.

Today I accept this as my Truth. I open my heart and let Love flow through me with ease and grace. It feels so good! I shine my heart light everywhere I am, loving and nurturing all with whom I come in contact and beyond. I am Love made manifest, and everything I manifest in my life is the same. Even if it doesn’t look like it or feel like it, I now declare it is so, and I receive the blessings of Divine Love in every situation.

I am so grateful for the Love of Spirit. I bask in this Love. I see Divine Love Notes everywhere. I am nurtured and supported by this Love. It is my Truth.

With a heart full of Love, I release these words into Spiritual Law, knowing they are so, and so it is.

The past week I have been surrounded by roses. I’ve been helping Beverley Woodburn, who is co-owner of the New Westminster Floral Company, get ready for Valentine’s Day.

I’ve learned a lot about flowers, but more than that, I have seen Creative Mind at work! Beverley is a visionary and a risk taker. She opens up to Infinite Intelligence for the ideas, and trusts that same Intelligence to guide her in putting those ideas into action. So many of us have delightful ideas, but they remain just that – ideas. Beverley trusts her ideas, and attracts the people and materials necessary to get things done.

We’ve been working with predominantly red and white roses because of the holiday, and as I looked at their meanings (Red roses signify love, respect & courage. White = reverence & purity) I saw that these are qualities that a visionary must embody to make things happen. A visionary loves and respects themselves and the Creative Mind within them. They have the courage to step out and take risks – saying Yes to being the vehicle for the manifestation of ideas. They have a deep reverence for this same Creative Mind in others, and there is an innocence within them that hasn’t really heard the “you can’t do that!” that stops so many of us from moving into our greatness.

Today yellow roses showed up. They signify joy, gladness and freedom. Those of us who know Beverley certainly know her as a woman filled with a lot of joy, as well as a bringer of joy to others. Again, this is something a visionary must embody to get things done – a deep sense of joy & gladness for the freedom to express Divine Ideas and serve with ease!

What Divine Ideas are coming through you? Perhaps you can give the Universe a Valentine this year by loving and respecting your Self enough to say YES. Step out courageously in faith, knowing it is the nature of Creative Mind to attract all that you need. Move through each step with a deep reverence and joy for all that you can do. All of Life is about Love. Let Love lead your life. Be your own Valentine this year with grace and joy!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

There is That Within me that is a wellspring of creativity. It is all ideas and all things necessary to the fulfillment of those ideas. It is my Source and my Sustainer.

I now choose to open my mind to the greater vision of my life. I let go of doubt and fear and see that I am always supplied with all I need. What ever I choose for myself, what ever Divine Idea I latch on to, the Universe stands and applauds because of Its love for It’s own self as me. I now know what my highest good is, and I allow it into my life. Everything I need is here right now.

I celebrate my existence in Creative Mind. I celebrate being a fountain of ideas. I am so grateful for my conscious awareness of the process of Mind, and my part in it. I live a creative life, a Divine Life, and this is good, very good. And so it is.

No matter where I’ve been this week, I’ve seen chocolate, flowers, cards, roses, more chocolate, and the colours of pink and red. Think the consciousness of humanity is wanting something?? YES! WE WANT LOVE!! Isn’t this is one of our basic requirements - to be fed, safe and loved?

When I look at the symbols of this month, chocolate represents the sweetness of life, flowers represent life’s growth and love’s blooming, the cards represent love’s communication, pink is love with innocence and red is Love/Life itself.

I figure there are three ways to know love – give it, receive it and be it.

Sometimes we shun love because of our past, or we sabotage ourselves by saying there isn’t anyone to love us because of our age, weight, lifestyle, etc.. What ever our story about Love is, if we feel separate, it is only because we don’t know we are already all that we are looking for! Dr. Holmes writes: “Love is the self-givingness of the Spirit through the desire of Life to express Itself in terms of creation.” It, being Love Itself, cannot help but continually give Love.

The most important way then, is being It. God is Love, and Love is the Truth of our being, so let’s consciously accept that Truth.

Dr. Holmes also writes: “Love is the central flame of the universe, nay, the very fire itself.” This central flame is burning on the altar fire of our hearts. We can have all the Love we want. All we have to do is go within and experience it. As we allow ourselves a deeper experience of Divine Love, we become a love magnet in our physical world. We love ourselves, and no matter what stories we have told, we begin to attract loving experiences and loving people.

What I know is true is this: You are the Beloved in whom God is well pleased. Receive this Love with Joy, give it away with gladness and go forth and BE Love!!

I had a good laugh the other day driving past a church marquee that read “God answers knee-mail.”

It did its job though – It made me think about prayers and answers. Dr. Holmes wrote in our text “The answer to prayer is in the prayer.” I read that as “in the pray-er” … the one doing the praying.

I know some of us have SMT’s (Spiritual Mind Treatments - affirmative prayer) that we’ve been doing for a long time. We’re looking for the right mate, perfect health, an increase in our finances, or soul-satisfying, well-paying employment, and it seems the manifestations have yet to appear. This can be very discouraging. It can lead us to believe that our SMT’s do not work.
Now here’s where the rubber hits the road. The reason we are living in the experience we are having is because we have accepted it as part of our lives. Rev. Willard Fuller (the metaphysical dentist) says “You walk in the atmosphere of your own believing.”

As long as we accept we are living in lack in any area of our lives, we get to experience it, and all the SMT’s we do will have little effect. If we Treat for 5 minutes, and then think lack for the rest of the day – what do you think the Subjective Mind hears as Its order in building our reality???

Jesus said you can’t put new wine into old wine-skins. The tagline for Science of Mind is Change your thinking – change your life!

It seems to me that it comes down to Trust. We have to absolutely turn away from the effect we have currently created and focus on what we want – as if we already have it – and Trust that the Law works!

Let Go and Let God, eh!?!

Recognizing all the Power of the Universe is behind the words I speak, I now declare I KNOW there is only One Mind. That Mind is Divine Mind, and that Mind is my mind.

I consciously choose to declare that I am finished with the acceptance of living my life as less than. I have changed my thinking, and I am changing my life. I am an expression of the Divine. Power flows through me at the level of my acceptance. I now up my levels!! I am all I am supposed to be as a spiritual being living a spiritual reality I have chosen to call being human.

Everything about me is in Divine Alignment. I am balanced and complete. I express my wholeness - my holiness - with grace and joy. I trust the Law to do Its perfect work. I accept that I am living in the Divine Kingdom. God and I are one and all is well with my world, on every level! Gratefully I release these words, knowing they are already so. And so it is.

I’ve spoken to a few people this week who’ve had some interesting experiences. (My teacher, Rev. Helen Street, used to say that “interesting” meant “Gee, I hope I live through this!”)

A couple of weeks ago, Judy Bowers gave me the perfect affirmation for these times, and I share it with you today:

“This is the best thing that could have ever happened to me!”

Now I know that’s a hard one when you’re right in the middle of an interesting situation, yet, if we were to come to the experience with this in mind, imagine how quickly we would recover!

Normally when we are in “interesting” situations, we are in reaction. In reaction we shut down – we feel separate. When we use an affirmation like the one above, we move out of reaction and are able to be open to Infinite Intelligence’s guidance as to how to proceed. The guidance is always “Return to your Self.” If we follow the guidance we will find ourselves working through the experience authentically and coming out of it in possession of many blessings.

Dr. Holmes writes “The conscious knowledge that in Divine Mind we are known only as perfection so uplifts the thought that every mental and emotional reaction to circumstances and conditions is improved.”

Our work, through all of our experiences, is the transformation of our consciousness. The situation is in our lives because we accepted it being there. Perhaps we attracted it in the first place to show ourselves where transformation was needed. Then this truly is the best thing that could have ever happened!!

There is within me a magnificent Mind – Divine Mind. As I allow myself to contemplate It, I recognize It as the Source of my authenticity.
I now declare I no longer live in reaction. I am a co-creator with Life, and I design, create and allow to manifest only good in my life. All that made me feel separate, all that made me feel less than, is now gone from my subjective mind. I know the Truth of my being. I am that I Am.
The perfection of The Divine is my perfection. Divine Life is my life. Divine Mind is my mind. For my conscious awareness of these things I am truly grateful. And so It is.

Friday the 13^th -- it’s amazing how a day and a date can have such a strange connotation! You know what I mean – it’s supposed to be unlucky!!

I was channel surfing the other night and saw a bit of a show called “Becker” – apparently something had happened in the morning that made his breakfast friends say it was his lucky day. He didn’t believe it, yet all day wonderful things happened. He kept looking for trouble. At one point he explained what he called his “rubber band theory.” That as these good things kept happening, his rubber band kept stretching and stretching, and he knew any moment it was going to snap back with a vengeance – and of course, at the end of the show it did, and he lost everything he had gained during the day.

I wonder how many people got up on Friday the 13th waiting for the rubber band to snap back or the other shoe to drop?

We in Religious Science are “lucky” to know this Truth: It is done unto us as we believe. If we believe something nasty will happen because of a certain date, it will. If we believe we have to pay for the good we attract with something negative, we will. Conversely, if you believe that Friday the 13^th is a lucky day, it will be. If you believe that the Universe always showers you with blessings, you will be.

It is done unto us as we believe. This is an immutable Principle. We can not get around it. How I love this teaching! Because of this awareness, we no longer have to be at the effect of the collective consciousness!! We can become aware of our beliefs, change the ones that no longer serve us, and embody new ones that will.

I recognize Spirit as the powerfully creative energy of Life within me and around me. I honour It by acknowledging Its Presence in my life. It honours me by serving me through my use of spiritual law.

Therefore I now declare I am no longer bound by the collective consciousness of superstition. Common sense tells me that if God is all there is, then I am a part of that, and there is nothing that can be against my highest good.

The Law is: “It is done unto me as I believe.” I now examine my life to see the beliefs I am manifesting. Anything that no longer serves me, I release. Everything that serves me well, I bless with my gratitude. All that I want, I see in my mind’s eye as already being part of my reality. I embody the vision deep within my subjective mind and let the Universal Subjective do Its perfect work.

I relax and let go. I believe in my Self and the givingness of the Universe. I am blessed beyond measure. I am so grateful to be able to accept all that is good, here and now. And so it is.

Celebrating Firsts!

The first Friday Message of the new year.

I love “firsts” … the first time eating at a new restaurant, the first time hearing a new song, the first time visiting a new shop, or a new location, the first time meeting someone, the first new flower on my rosebushes. At my age, I could think that there aren’t as many firsts as with someone who is younger, yet there are, and there is still something so magical about ‘first time’s’.

When we’re younger we don’t have anything to compare the new experience with, yet we adults do that all the time, don’t we? We constantly compare the present moment to something in our past, thereby taking ourselves out of the Now.

Many of the great spiritual teachers throughout history have “live in the now” as a large part of their teachings. I believe this is what Jesus meant when he said “Come unto me as a little child.” A child comes to each event without conceptions of how it should be, and thereby is able to relish each moment.

The Truth is nothing is ever exactly the same. Each moment is a “first.” Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher of the late 6th century BCE known for his teachings on eternal change, said: “It is not possible to step into the same river twice”. And so it is with our lives. Every morning I look out my windows at a beautiful greenbelt. The brook I noticed when I moved in four months ago has become a small river covering the lower part of the backyard. It even has islands! Yesterday I watched a squirrel jump from island to island and race up and down the cedar trees. The day before I watched two ducks enjoying the water. Not long ago I watched a blue heron fishing. I could look out that same window every day at the same time for the rest of my life, and the view would always be different!

And so it is with our lives.

When we are in the present time, we’re conscious. When we’re in the past or the future, our bodies continue on automatic, (I’m sure you’ve had the experience of driving somewhere, getting to your destination, and then wondering, “How did I do that?”) yet, we’re asleep. Our goal is to wake up!!

So, how does one stay in the now? Be where your body is. How simple, yet not easy! Our minds are always carrying us off into the past or the future. It takes training and discipline to spend quality time right where we are. Here’s an exercise: tonight when you brush your teeth, see how long you can be conscious of what you’re doing. I’ll bet you have to drag your mind back into present time quite a few times during this simple exercise! However, like any exercise, keep it up and you will have great results!

What I know is True, is that the Universe is continually giving – in the present moment! In order to experience the richness of Life, we must be awake in present time. Here’s an old but true cliché: Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Enjoy the experience fully!

The infinitely intelligent Creative Energy of Life is absolutely everywhere. It is the Source of all things, the Power behind all things. It is, and that is all there is. I am so grateful to know I am an expression of this Oneness. All that It is, I am.

I accept this Truth. All that Life is, I am. I now declare I am awake. As I experience each moment, it is brand new, unfettered by my beliefs and feelings from the past. I now experience Life is all Its richness. My physical body is vitally alive and healthy. My emotional body is clear and vibrant. My mental body is filled with beliefs that support the goodness of Life.

Each breath is the first breath of The Divine as me. Each thought is the first thought of The Divine as me. I live in present time, and it is good, very good.

With a grateful heart, I celebrate Life with every fiber of my being. I love Life and live joyfully. I accept the givingness of The Divine in each moment with ease and grace. And so it is.

When I lived in Hawai’i, one of the traditions I loved was that people would run around town on the last days of December and pay all their bills – in cash!

What a delightful tradition – to start the new year fresh and debt-free. Not only is it a good idea financially, it is a good idea emotionally & mentally. Create some sacred time and space to look through your spiritual bank accounts. Who do you owe? Who does not have safe passage through your mind? A family member, an ex, yourself? What are you holding on to that is no longer serving you?

Colin Tipping, author of Radical Forgiveness, writes “Radical Forgiveness is much more then the mere letting go of the past. It is the key to creating the life that we want, and the world that we want. It is the key to our own happiness and the key to world peace. It is no longer an option. It is our destiny.”

If we walk into 2006 with the baggage of 2005, the same consciousness that created that baggage will create even more. And who wants to do that?!?

If you’re like me, you’re looking forward to even greater good in your life next year. Yet all the spiritual work we could possibly do to create that good, will not help us unless we let go of the old. It’s like trying to put new wine into old wine skins.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Divine Love is the Source of all. It fills every corner of this universe, because It is this universe. Every cell and atom is the energy of Love made manifest. This energy is within me. I am made of Divine Love. I am the expression of Divine Love. Therefore it is easy for me to forgive. For those who practice Divine Love all is forgiven.

Today I choose to let Divine Love move through me, clearing all my emotional baggage. I allow myself to forgive and let go. Any thing I have held against anyone, including myself, is now released. I feel myself becoming lighter. I feel the freedom of letting go. I am forgiven of my debts as I forgive my debtors and this is good, very good.

I also let go of any thoughts that no longer serve me, or have kept me stuck in behaviors that are not for my highest and best good. I fill my mind with thoughts of Divine Love, and all Its aspects, knowing their expression is my intention for the new year.

I am ready. I have a clear mind and a pure heart. I step into 2006 as the Divine Being that I am, unfettered by the past. With a heart full of gratitude, I release these words, knowing they are done. And so it is.

Beloved Spiritual Family:

I was channel surfing the other night and came upon a program that was explaining some Sekh teachings. One of the comments that caught my attention was:

The first Law of Prosperity is “Don’t Doubt.”

That is not only the first law of prosperity but of practicing our spirituality as well!! Don’t doubt! Treat and don’t doubt the effectiveness of your Treatments. Speak your word for health, and don’t doubt. For your new job, and don’t doubt. For love and don’t doubt!

Doubt is uncertainty in the context of trust. It implies challenging some notion of truth, or hesitating to take action due to concern that one might be mistaken. It is to hesitate in accepting something as truth.

Dr. Holmes writes in today’s 365 Science of Mind reading:

“When the intellect is no longer contradicted by our emotional reactions, by unconscious doubts and fears, then the word of our mouth will immediately bear fruit.”

To me, the opposite of doubt is trust and expectancy. If we are going to let go of doubt, what do we trust? That Powerful Presence that is absolutely everywhere in the universe, that honours our deepest beliefs and feelings through Its aspect called Law. Dr. Holmes writes that “Learning to trust will make us happy.”

How do we trust? In this world of mixed messages, it’s easy to slide into doubt. I believe we have to consciously set an intention to trust, and every time we find ourselves doubting, consciously realign ourselves with Truth. The more we do it, the more we re-pattern ourselves, and trusting becomes natural.

One of the ways we can re-pattern ourselves is working with the Law in eager expectancy. (In a way, doubt is expecting our Treatments will not work.) I love this writing by Dr. Holmes:

"What great joy should accompany everything that we do -- an expectancy, love. Love everything, praise everything, recognize all things, believe all things, accept all things. There is a laughter of God -- let's laugh it. There is a song of the Universe -- let's sing it. There is a hymn of praise -- let's praise it. There is a joy, a beauty; there is a deep abiding peace; let's experience it."

Now this is happiness !

There is One Perfect Power in the universe. It is infinitely intelligent and unconditionally loving. It surrounds and encompasses me. It is everywhere. It is my life. I trust that in every moment, the Power for Good is working in and through me.

I now choose to let go of all my self-imposed doubts and fears. I allow myself to fully benefit from this Power for Good. As I speak my word for my life, knowing that I am now healthy, wealthy, creative, loving and wise, I know these words are being immediately acted upon. I step up in eager expectancy, delighting in all I attract with my clear mind and pure heart.

I laugh and sing my praises for this wonderful Law that is always at work for me, through me. My life is joy filled. I am happy because I trust!

Gratefully I release these words to the Creative Process and allow each moment to unfold in grace and joy. And so It is.

Remembrance Day -- This is the first year I’ve ever felt this sad on this day. Perhaps it’s because I just finished reading a very graphic novel about a young woman who survived the atom bomb in Nagasaki. Perhaps it’s because the U.S. activities in the Middle East bring up memories of friends lost in Viet Nam.

What ever it is, I believe most of us have been touched by war in some way – whether it be ourselves, or having fathers, grandfathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, aunts and uncles serving in the military. As much as I dislike war, I honour the courage it takes to step up and fight for something one believes in. I honour the commitment to peace.

As I thought about the military families in Canada and the U.S. this morning, I realized I also have to honour the men, women and children – soldiers and civilians - that have died all over the world because of war.

War rips big holes in the fragile framework of our lives. Lives are lost, and for the living, dreams are lost, and our consciousness is forever changed, on personal as well as planetary levels. I know there is another way to solve our issues and it’s up to us to discover that way and make a difference where we live. Margaret Mead wrote:

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”

I will be a thoughtful, committed global citizen and join in the 2 minutes of silence at 11:11 AM today, praying with the full intention that I will see world peace in my lifetime, and the millions of deaths the world over will have not be in vain. It might be a small gesture, yet I know it is a powerful one.

This Sunday is World Kindness Day, and what a better way to enhance peace in the world than to practice random acts of kindness, not just on Sunday, but everyday.

God is the Omnipresent Power of Love. This Love is infinitely intelligent and all powerful. It is the creator of all and sustains all, including me.

I am so grateful to be able to stand on Principle and know the Truth. I celebrate freedom, the freedom that was fought for, and the freedom that is eternally filling me up as I go deeper into my true nature. My nature is the Nature of The Divine – filled with kindness, joy, peace and love. These divine qualities radiate from me in waves of goodness, and my life is a pure reflection of Divine Love. I declare that my life is filled with grace, and it is good, very good. As I accept this for myself, I accept this for all.

Gratefully, I release these words into Spiritual Law, knowing the Power of the Universe is behind them, and they are already done. And so it is.

I’m excited! This month at the Celebration of Life Centre, we are focusing on The Power of our Intention. I KNOW this stuff works – not only have I consciously (most of the time -LOL) used the principles of Science of Mind for over 20 years, but I have watched countless others “Change their thinking – change their lives.”

The mystic priest, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, wrote:

"It is our duty - as men and women - to behave as though limits to our ability do not exist. We are co-creators of the Universe."

My intention this month is to help us go beyond our self-imposed limits and BE conscious co-creators, not only on the individual level, but in community. No matter whether you attend our Centre, or another, or no Centre at all, you can participate with us in co-creating a better world.

The first thing is to become aware of what your intention is for your life.

I can remember being in my early 20’s, sitting on the floor across from a woman who was telling me her sad story. (I was known for being a good person to talk to) I asked questions that resulted in answers that caused this woman to sit up straight and her eyes, which had been almost lifeless, were now bright. Suddenly I knew I was here to TURN ON THE LIGHT!!

Over the years as I’ve thought about this, I knew I had to be a Light to do what I was supposed to be doing, so here’s what I came up with as my personal Vision Statement:

My intention is to be a greater expression of the Divine, and to awaken others to their Divinity.

Because of Principle, as I embodied my intention and let go of all fears around it, the intention became a magnet, drawing to me everything necessary to its fulfillment. I am now achieving my intention by being a part of an organization that is committed to healing hearts and transforming lives - doing its part to create a better world for future generations - as a spiritual leader and a writer.

The actor, Christopher Reeves, wrote

"So many dreams at first seem impossible. And then they seem improbable. And then when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable."

When we use our will to create our intention – our dreams become reality. His intention was to overcome his paralysis, and he did, maybe not to the degree he wanted, but quadriplegics everywhere now have an example of what intention can do.

We live in an infinite field of creative potentiality. This field has everything in it to fulfill every desire. This field is Divine Energy, everywhere present. It is infinite intelligence and unconditional love. We are in It and It is in us.

I now declare I am ready to fully utilize the Field. Divine Mind within me, is moving me forward along my path of spiritual evolution, and I choose to go consciously. At every moment I choose my intentions wisely. Everything I need is already in place. I am now all that I desire to be.

I am grateful for my conscious awareness of the power of my intentions, for the working of Principle in my life. My life is an outpicturing of Divine Life, and it is good, very good. I release this word into Law, knowing it is done. And so it is.
