I saw two great movies this past week. “Conversations with God” and “Man of the Year.” I’ve also read lots of good articles sent to me via e-mail. One of the important messages coming through at this moment is INTEGRITY. I feel I live pretty much in integrity … and then I looked up the word. The Latin root is wholeness, and one of the definitions of is: an undivided or unbroken completeness or totality with nothing wanting. I can’t honestly say I am an “undivided completeness.”

I remember Rev. Helen Street standing at the pulpit saying “We believe the universal mantra is OM – however, what it really seems to be is …..” and then she made the sound of snoring. How long are we going to complacently allow ourselves to sleep behind the mask of mediocrity? To be asleep to our magnificence?

Integrity is about WAKING UP ! To live in the totality with nothing wanting. This means going deeper in our Spirit. Being Real. Doing our spiritual practices whatever they might be, and remembering that as we do them for the benefit of our own lives, we are having an effect on thousands. Waking up individually is waking up humanity.

How grateful I am to be living in this time of a great renaissance. We are being birthed into our Real Selves and this is a very good thing!

I recognize the Totality of Spirit. It is absolutely everywhere, within and without. It is an active Principle working in, through and as each of Its manifestations.

I am one of those manifestations. I am a unique expression of the Divine. There is no one exactly like the physical me. No one who feels exactly the way I do. No one who thinks exactly like I do. This does not make me alone – this is my uniqueness and my uniqueness is valuable.

Today I choose to wake up to my Totality – I let go of anything idea of being broken or divided in any way. I am in absolute integrity – as Spirit, how could I be anything else. Now that I remember this, I see it show up in all the areas of my life.

I am so grateful to have woken up. I am grateful to be a consciously active part of the creative process. I am grateful for knowing who I am – Spirit in form.

I release these words into Universal Law, knowing they are already manifest. And so it is.

A friend of mine in Hawai’i was relating a story to me about how her boyfriend came up behind her and said “I’ve got your back.” We both thought it was such a sweet thing to say. Then about a week later I saw some t-shirts with the same words. I wondered if this was some new slang phrase that was circulating, and because it had come to my attention again, I knew it was a message for me. Before I “googled” it, I thought about what it meant. For me, “I’ve got your back” denotes a sense of protectiveness. A sense of the person saying “go ahead, I’ll watch out for you.”

“Googling” led me to discover that this is the title of a book on corporate strategy using a tennis model, the name of a movie honouring the men and women in the U.S. military and phrase used by pilots in the last world war.

I then discovered an ‘Urban Dictionary’ (fascinating!), which gave me this definition: “An expression assuring someone that you are watching out for them. Comes from making sure you are safe by watching what's behind you when you're busy looking ahead.”

I immediately saw this as something Infinite Intelligence is continually saying to us! We humans have a tendency to look backwards – reviewing, analyzing, re-playing the incidents in our past. Because of this, there seems to be an element of fear in moving forward.

If we were to accept “I’ve got your back” as a Universal Truth … we would march more confidently into our future. There wouldn’t be anything to be afraid of.

Stop for a moment and close your eyes. Imagine The Voice Within saying “I’ve got your back.” How does that feel? I have a feeling of empowerment, my courage gets stronger. I can let go of fear. I can continue to move into my Vision because there is That Within Me that has my back.

AND – because I know God has mine, I can say this to you--- “I’ve got your back!”

I know there is only One – one infinitely intelligent Mind/one unconditionally loving Heart. This is the Heart and Mind of The Divine. This is the one great Principle that is working in, through and as us at all times, in all ways.

I now step into my life more fully, knowing I am guided and nurtured by my conscious awareness of The One. It is living my life through and as me, honouring my choices. I choose to know I have nothing to fear. The Divine has my back. I am safe. I move into a greater vision of my life with ease, knowing all I have been and done, all I am now, and all I will be, is an expression of Spirit. Totally relying on Spirit means I can make no mistakes. I can only step into the fullness of my life, being authentic and whole.

In every area of my life, Spirit has my back - in my health, my wealth, my creativity and my relationships. I move forward with ease, expressing my whole Self.

Gratefully I release these words, feeling the liberation from fear. I am safe in the heart of The Divine. And so it is.

Whoo Hoo – Friday the 13^th !! So what does that conjure up for you? I used to think I had to be really careful on this day as it was a day where all sorts of mishaps could happen. I know I’m not alone - that belief is in the collective consciousness of the western world.

On one of my long drives on my holiday, I listened to the book Ishmael written by Daniel Quinn. I loved it – it starts out with an ad "Teacher seeks pupil, must have an earnest desire to save the world". Quinn has his ‘teacher’, who happens to be a silverback gorilla, teaching his pupil about the basic myths we have created to live by. Knowing we are the writers of the current mythology, this made me start looking at the myths in the collective consciousness I had accepted in my life.

Friday the 13^th used to be one of those myths. As I go deeper into awareness of our basic Law: “It is done unto us as we believe” I realize how important it is for us to constantly re-evaluate what we believe, where we got the belief, and whether it still serves us.

Think about this, if I buy into a myth that tells me if I walk under a ladder, or a black cat crosses my path, I will have bad luck, that myth becomes a law for me, and I have to honour that law or suffer the consequences.

This is the same with all generally accepted myths – here’s a few negative ones: We can only leave this body by getting ill; We are never good enough; Love hurts; Life is a struggle; Aging is bad. We are being bombarded with a number of myths on a daily basis though the media and daily conversations. If we accept these as part of our personal mythology, we have to live by them.

How grateful I am to have this wonderful philosophy to work with! I know I can choose what mythology to live by, indeed I can create a new myth moment by moment. Today I choose this one:

“I live in complete confidence that I am on the pathway of endless unfoldment, walking in the Light of infinite Wisdom.”

There is only One Life, that Life is God’s Life, and that Life is my life now. How grateful I am to know this Truth. I celebrate the Oneness!

This One Life responds to my thoughts and feelings through Law with ease and grace. I am the one making up the laws. I contemplate the mythology, the story of my life, that I have lived by up until now, and allow myself to accept a new story in the areas that no longer serve me.

I now declare that my new story is about health, wealth, creativity and love. And on a deeper level my story is about living the Divine Life with joy. I settle into my Spirit with complete confidence and trust, knowing that my desire is for the highest good and the greatest joy for myself and all others.

Gratefully I surrender to my new mythology. This is a Divine Story and it is a good one! And so it is.

What great fun it is to travel. Hawai’i was a great blessing. It was so good to be around family and make new friends as well.

One of the things I’ve noticed as I talked with people is that changes are happening in many people’s lives. Some changes are manifesting painfully, and some with excitement. Each story I heard was a microcosmic view of the changes that are happening in our world.

Years ago, I was sitting in a class where a question was asked about the 2012 experience the earth is prophesied to have. The teacher responded that the earth was being born into a new dimension, and as this happens, it is as if we were being placed into a giant sieve, and shaken until all the dross falls away.

I describe it this way: a new paradigm of peace and compassion has been birthed into the forefront of the collective consciousness, and the old paradigm of “might is right” is fighting to stay alive. Each of us in participating in this birthing in our own way. As our experiences come up we chose how we are going to react to them – it’s usually a split-second, unconscious choice, but it is a choice.

I believe our participation in this emergent evolution (as Dr. Holmes called it), is to be more mindful of our participation, of our choices. This weekend is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, and gratitude is one of the best ways I know to be more mindful. Right now, stop and take a deep breath. Don’t keep reading – close your eyes for a moment and just breathe and let yourself relax into your Spirit. Now, let yourself be totally in the moment. Be aware that this moment is the only moment there is, Be aware that in this moment there is nothing to be anxious about. Breathe deeply again. Now, allow yourself to be grateful for the experiences of your life, and all the choices you have made up until now. Be grateful you are alive, you are awakening, you are here in this moment. In this moment of grateful mindfulness, declare that from now on, all your choices will be for the highest good and the greatest joy of all. Be grateful you can choose this. Breathe deeply again to anchor this choice.

The 14^th century Christian mystic, Miester Eckhart wrote “If the only prayer we prayed was thank you, that will suffice.” This is so true today.

Today I am consciously aware of the One. I recognize It as infinitely intelligent and unconditionally loving. I am the focus of this great mind and heart. It is living my life, in, through and as me.

Knowing this, I now take my place as a Divine Being. I am ready and willing to live my life for the highest good and greatest joy for all. I celebrate my choices, knowing they are blessing me delightfully, and then radiating from me and blessing others. I am a willing vehicle for the Light and Love of The Divine.

I am so grateful to be here now. I am grateful for my awakening to my True Nature. I am grateful for my awareness of spiritual law. I am grateful that all there is – is God. Therefore I declare: God is good, and all is well with my world.

And so it is.

Aloha again from the Big Island of Hawai'i!

Last month many of you participated in my Thank God I'm Rich program, to expand our consciousness of prosperity. This week I've gotten to experience abundance at a whole new level. It's like I'm visiting royalty -- all my needs have been met with ease and grace. Many before I even thought of asking!

Here's one little example: Tuesday, my friend Louise & I went swimming at the hot ponds – a very magical place.

On the way home she offered to drive me up an old road that is flanked by huge mango trees. She suggested we stop and find some to eat, and just as we opened the car door, a tree-ripen mango fell in front of her car! She offered that one to me, and found another, and we continued our drive. What a delight! Riding along a winding road, through an old grove mango forest with tropical flowers of every sort … experiencing a visual feast and eating mangos. Now that's abundance!!

Prosperity isn't really about big cars & houses, and tons of money – though all that stuff can be fun to create - it's about experiencing the delights of what's right in front of us. The gifts of The Universe that are always being given.

The Big Island is experiencing another type of abundance – a small frog that sings at night called a Coqui. Many of the residents are irritated because of the noisy infiltration of this animal, yet last night as I listened, I remembered an acronym for frog = Fully Relying On God! Nighttime is when most people do their worrying. Rev. Tag says the Spanish translation of the frog's name is "It's me!" so the songs of the frogs can remind them God is always here. As one worries, they will hear The Divine saying "It's me! It's me!" And isn't this the Truth, everything, including the frogs and us, is God.

It announces Itself in many ways so we can remember to fully rely upon It.

God is Love, and Love what we are. Love is the magnificent energy that is the source of all things, and the energy that makes up all things. It is absolutely everywhere present. Love points the way, and the Law makes the way possible.

Knowing this, I declare that it is my intention to see and experience all the love notes The Universe is constantly giving me. As I recognize them, I celebrate my conscious awareness of how much I am loved. I am so grateful to know how valuable I am in the grand scheme of things, and I accept my sacred right to Being.

God in me, as me, is having a delightful experience of Itself. This is good, very good. I fully rely on the God Presence within me to guide me into an ever greater joyful appreciation of abundance!

And so it is.

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawai'i!

I share with you the wonders of my former churches 20^th anniversary. I've experienced a great celebration party with dinner and dancing on Saturday night, and a full house on Sunday morning, followed by a swim in my favorite hot ponds.

It's such an ego-boost to be the guest of honor, and absolutely delightful to have a reunion with old friends. Yet the thing that humbles me is having the ability to see the legacy I created. During the party on Saturday and after the service on Sunday many people came to me saying "You don't know me, but I want to thank you for starting this church – it has made a tremendous difference in my life."

As I stood at the lectern, looking out at the faces of the Center for Spiritual Growth's members and friends – I suddenly realized those lives had been touched because I decided to start following an Inner Guidance years and years ago. I decided to start living my bliss.

We're all leaving a legacy. We're creating it moment by moment. The image of a drop of water causing ripples on a smooth surface comes to mind. I now have a much deeper understanding of how every single one of our choices affects countless others, and how important it is to be mindful of them. How grateful I am to be able to see the fruits of my choices!

In Religious Science, as we honor the powerful Presence of The Divine within us, allowing It's infinite intelligence to guide us, and accepting the Unconditional Love that is always being given, we shall, as Dr. Holmes writes: "expand into a greater livingness – our world created by our consciousness, and our consciousness taking its color from the perception of our relation to the Infinite!"

I open myself to the conscious awareness of the Truth of my being. All there is – is God. An infinitely intelligent, unconditionally loving, everywhere present, all powerful Energy that resides within me as well as around me.

Today I recognize God foremost in all my choices. I am open and willing to live a Divine Life, filled with blessings beyond measure. I am willing to consistently choose that which is the best for all concerned, which includes myself. I am willing to live in integrity and authenticity as the spiritual being that I am.

My willingness opens doors of opportunity where I might have thought there were none. My willingness reveals to me the powerful person that I am. I accept with grace and gratitude all that is for me to do. I know I am not alone. I am in Oneness with Life, and this is good, very good.

Gratefully I release my word into spiritual law, offering myself in service, knowing the Law always works. God is good, and all is well in my world.

And so it is.

What does forgiveness have to do with peace? If you review your own life, you know that when we are holding something against another, those thoughts become like a hamster wheel of frustration and resentment in our minds, and inner peace is lost.

Through forgiveness, we can make a difference in our world, one mind at a time!

One of the most important people to forgive is ourselves. You might be saying “Wait a minute – I didn’t cause ________ to happen in my life (my boss to fire me, my husband/wife leaving for another, etc.) No, you might not have caused it, however, the study of the Science of Mind helps us to realize that something in our consciousness attracted our part in the experience. So maybe we need to forgive ourselves for making the choices we did – and finally let go.

Going even deeper -- I attended a workshop years ago where I heard the facilitator say that there are two bottom line beliefs that most of us still carry: ‘we are not enough’ or ‘we are unloveable.’ Both of these are lies that we need to forgive ourselves for believing in.

There is only One Life, that Life is God’s Life, and that life is my life right here, right now. I accept this as my Truth and as the Truth for everyone.

I declare I am now opening up in deep surrender to the Powerful Presence within me. I release all my attachments to the events of my past that kept me in bondage. I breathe deeply and celebrate my freedom!

In this freedom I make new choices. I let Infinite Intelligence guide me and Love support me in my decisions for my life. I now have unlimited happiness on all levels of my being. I know who I am – Spirit in form, and this is good, very good.

With a grateful heart, I let go and let God doing Its perfect work in, though and as me. And so it is.

Everything we have ever done, every word, every thought and every breath, has brought us to this moment. Each of us has created this moment by the choices we have made.

Yesterday I watched a flock of geese flying across the sky. I looked at that “V” shape and at the lead bird and thought – “Wow, that’s me, flying into my future – and people are willing to follow – and they’ve been doing it for the past 20 years!!”

I felt overwhelmed with gratitude. Suddenly I remembered a treasure map I did back in the early ‘80’s on which I pasted a cemetery head stone that read “Her life was better than most people’s fantasies.” Because of the people in my experience, those that I have classified as positive and negative, I have been able to live my life in an awesome way, and done things people have only dreamed about. And it’s not over yet!!

Each of us influences people, known and unknown, with the way we live our lives. Just think, right in this moment while you are reading, you are perched on the edge of your future and there are people willing to follow you into that future, confident that you know what you’re doing! Seems like a big responsibility, eh!?

It’s not really – as we live in integrity with compassion and love, invoking as much joy as possible, we can be assured that as we lift our consciousness we lift the consciousness of the people in our circle of influence, and many, many more.

We can remember we are not in this life alone … no matter what is happening, not only do we have friends and family (of birth or choice) to help us, but there is an Infinitely Intelligent Essence within us, that will nurture and guide us along our Path, if we let it. Why let our lives be a struggle? We don’t have to do it all ourselves.

We can remember that when we are ready the next teacher will appear. Maybe that teacher will be a person, maybe an experience. We can move forward along our Path letting go of the old adage “no pain, no gain.”

We can remember that the good we do, never goes unacknowledged or unrewarded. We don’t need to look for it --this is karma – or the Law of Cause and Effect.

The author Clarissa Pinkola Estes wrote: “Anything you do from the soulful self will help lighten the burdens of the world. Anything. You have no idea what the smallest word, the tiniest generosity can cause to be set in motion. Be outrageous in forgiving. Be dramatic in reconciling. . . Be off the charts in kindness..... Mastery is in increments, not in leaps. Be brave, be fierce, be visionary. Mend the parts of the world that are "within your reach." To live this way is the most dramatic gift you can ever give to the world. Consider yourselves assigned.

We are all expressions of the One Life manifesting infinite possibilities. All spiritual beings having a spiritual experience we are calling being human.

As a conscious expression I let myself take on the role of leadership with joy and grace, and I rejoice as I join others doing so as well. We are leading ourselves into our futures, becoming more and more aware of how powerful we are.

I declare I am ready to life a Life Magnificent. I am willing to be a greater expression than I already am. I surrender all sense of littleness, and welcome my work in this world. I know that though it seems like I am doing it alone, in Truth, I am supported by Infinite Intelligence in all Its many forms. I am loved and loving. I am healthy and express health–giving thoughts. I declare that everything I am and everything I do is for the highest and best good of all. God as me, in me, does great work, just as It does in everyone.

I am so grateful to be a conscious expression of The Divine. And so it is.

Alan Cohen wrote: “Your future isn't what it used to be.”

How true!! Every moment, indeed with every breath - every thought, we are creating a new future. Knowing this makes me realize the responsibilities and the joys of being aware of the Principles of Religious Science.

I was talking to someone the other day who’s life seems to be crashing in on them. As I listened, I could hear the Truth of something Rev. Helen Street used to say: “Listen to a person for 5 minutes and you will know the God they worship.” This person worshiped the God of disaster. Knowing what I know about Principle, I threw in some positive aspects they could focus on. They replied angrily saying they had taken all the classes and studied metaphysics for longer than I had, and that sometimes life just doesn’t work.

The author Stephen King wrote: "It is, after all, the dab of grit that seeps into an oyster's shell that makes the pearl, not pearl-making seminars with other oysters."

Isn’t this the Truth!! We leave classes or seminars filled with a new sense of purpose, but it isn’t until we put these Principles to work that they really get embodied. Dr. Holmes never promised that life would be challenge-free because of our studies, however, he did teach that we can approach our challenges in new ways. He wrote: “We must return the way we came. As little children, who know that life is good and to be trusted, we are to approach our problems as though they were not. Approaching them in this manner, they will vanish.”

This teaching is so simple, yet not so easy to live – at least not at first. The world wants us to be angry and afraid. The nature of the Universe is to be joyful and loving. We chose what we want to experience and in the choosing create our future. Choose a good one!!

I live and move and have my being in the Pure Heart of The Divine. It is filled with joy and wisdom. It is the Source and Substance of all there is. I have embodied all the qualities inherent in this One and it is good, very good.

I have surrendered my former attachments to the world ways of thinking. They are no longer my truth. Today I declare I am creating my future as a great blessing for myself and all who are in my atmosphere. I celebrate our abundance, our health, our loving relationships and our creative work. I celebrate using my mind to create peace and harmony in my world. I am so grateful I know I am the Beloved and am able to share love with ease.

I know we are all where we are by right of our consciousness. I now declare that my raising my consciousness has raised the consciousness of humanity. I celebrate our Oneness!!

My life is God’s life and I am making it a good one. For this I am eternally grateful. And so it is.

A few weeks ago, I was standing by the sliding door in my home office when I saw Daisy streak by. This cat is an amazing hunter – she once jumped 6’ straight up on a tiny 4^th floor balcony to snatch a bird out of the air. Something told me she had caught another critter, so I went outside to save it. Daisy was hiding under a bush. I stuck my hand under the bush and because Daisy and I have lived together for 6 years, she knew what to do, and dropped what she was carrying into my hand. I quickly closed my hand, and stood up and opened it slightly. I was instantly awestruck! There was the tiniest hummingbird I had ever seen! It’s feathers were iridescent green and it’s beak was almost as big as it’s body! It was either dead or stunned because it wasn’t moving. Another hummingbird started to flit around me, then landed on a branch of the closest tree. I realized I had a baby hummer in my hands! As I held that tiny bird I KNEW it was healthy and would live. Suddenly I could feel its heart pounding wildly in my palm. I centered myself and breathed peace, and I could feel it calming. Finally I open my hands and the tiny bird flew up and over the brook to a tree far enough away that Daisy couldn’t catch it again. I saw the mother fly to that area as well.

I had held a baby hummer !!! I was so grateful.

I’ve had some amazing experiences with hummers. The first one I remember was after a day long meditation class at the Glendale, CA. church. I went to my car and there was a hummer, just hanging in the air about 4 feet in front of me – it’s colours flashing in the sun. I watched for the longest time, and felt so privileged to have that experience, then as I opened my car door, it left. However, just before I could turn the key to start the engine, it was back - hanging in the air outside my windshield, closer this time. I sat there in awed appreciation. It was as if that meditation class had put me in a space where I could feel unity with all life, and the hummingbird felt it.

Another time was at Asilomar, when I was walking down from my room (across from the main gate) and there was a gorgeous male sitting on a branch. Just sitting! Normally it would have flown away in brilliant flash of colour, but it just sat there .. I stood and watched it preen itself for quite a while.

I had officiated at a wedding a couple of weeks ago at which the bride gave the groom a wedding ring with a hummingbird engraved on it. She wanted me to say something about the ring, and in my research I discovered that in the Haida culture Hummingbirds are bringers of JOY.

The Sunday after holding the hummingbird in my hand, I walked into the Rec, Centre where we hold our Gatherings and saw this month’s Common Ground magazine – yes, it had a hummingbird on the cover – and the feature article was about JOY!!

All these experiences I consider “Love notes from the Universe.” Each time the message has been JOY!! Meister Eckhart, the great Catholic mystic said “Joy is the most infallible sign of the presence of God.” I accept!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Knowing that Divine Energy is the essence of the Universe – the Source and Substance of all – I now declare I see It and hear It and experience It will all of my senses. I know this Essence is the Source and Substance of who I am.

The Universe is constantly giving me Love Notes. I allow myself to receive and acknowledge them. I experience these Love Notes in all areas of my life. In my health, my finances, my relationships and my work. Every time I notice one, I celebrate it. I am so grateful I can do this.

I celebrate the Spirit of Joy in me, as me today. I let It fill me up and flow out into my atmosphere with ease and grace. Gratefully, I know my life is God’s Life and it is good. And so it is.

Today is the 25^th Anniversary Celebration of the Honolulu Church of Religious Science … I’ve been flooded with memories as this is my “home church.” I actually started studying Religious Science in Glendale, California, and got a good understanding of Religious Science, yet Honolulu, through Rev. Helen Street, was where I grew up. Where I deepened my understanding of Principle and learned that God is love, and discovered spiritual family. Here I bonded with people that no matter how far away they might be, will always be in my heart and mind.

While these memories flood my conscious mind, it gives me a deeper understanding of how important spiritual community is. In community we grow together, laugh together, cry together. In community we feel supported along our life’s Path.

On Sundays, I smile as I refer to our Gatherings as a spiritual re-fueling station … yet this is what “church” is. A place to shake off the mesmerization of the world, and remember the Truth of our being.

The Pagan Priestess Starhawk writes:

Community

Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion

without having the words catch in our throats.

Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us,

eyes will light up as we enter,

voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power.

Let yourself look upon your spiritual community this way. I KNOW we are all attracted to the right place at the right time. Infinite Intelligence is guiding our every step. Our every step is leading us home – to our Selves.

We also create legacies - because of my experiences in Honolulu, the East Hawai’i church was founded and will celebrate it’s 20^th anniversary next month. Because of these experiences, I had the courage to risk it all and move to a foreign country six years ago and take over another church, and then start another one last year. Because of these experiences, other churches have been started by my students, and the legacy goes on.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

God in us, as us, is a mighty force for good. It is infinitely intelligent, and unconditionally loving. It is the lifeforce makes all things animate, and it is the energy that holds all things inanimate together.

Today I recognize The Divine as my ‘life line’ – people, places and events that have brought me to this moment. In this moment I honour all who have walked my Path with me, whether ahead, alongside or behind me – whether I have known them or not. We are all going home together .. home to a deeper understanding of the Truth of our being.

I declare that today is the day I choose to honour myself as well. I am the one walking the Path, co-creating my world. None of this would or could have happened without me. I celebrate my Self with joy and thanksgiving. I celebrate my choices. I see they have all been exactly what I needed to deepen my awareness.

I celebrate The Divine Within - knowing It is my true home. My life is God’s Life, and I am making it a good one!! Gratefully, I release these words. And so it is.

Well, I was all ready to tell you a delightful story about hummingbirds showing up in my life lately … but that will have to wait until next week. This morning I received Rev. Carol Carnes daily e-mail and feel it has to be shared:

Dear friends,

In times like these it helps to go back to the very basics of spiritual wisdom. I especially like to read Emma Curtis Hopkins who was the clearest of the clear and who effected many a healing through the power of awareness. She used strong denials, that is, she denied that the appearance of a negative proved the absence of Good. She said “When the right denials are made, the affirmations will be exceedingly hot and effective.”

It may seem foolish to deny that there is hatred and violence in our world. But it is a spiritual necessity if we are to create peace. We deny that the appearance of evil has any power to perpetuate itself without agreement and conviction. Nothing does.

Ms. Hopkins would have us boldly denounce the current world situation as being the only reality possible. She would tell us to shout “There is no unrest in Spirit! There is only Peace at the core of all existence. There is One Perfect relationship of Spirit to matter; One activity; It is the activity of harmony and love revealing itself through that which claims it as so. Today I stake my claim in the Good. I expect an end to the appearance of hatred and violence. I expect peace and cooperation to spread around the world as effortlessly as sound waves. I call out my deepest love for all humanity, erasing any patterns of resistance. I take my place in the co creation of a world that is in love with all its people. I refuse to accept the temporary manifestations of fear to be the last word of creation. I stand in line with the great Ones of all the ages. There is Good for us and we are meant to share it. In trust and cheerful expectation I affirm the end to war in myself and in the world. And so it is.

Let’s join Rev. Carol in declaring this Truth daily!!

The other night I was half listening to an interview on television with an extreme mountain biker. When I looked up and watched the pictures of the man participating in his sport, I could see the joy on his face and knew he was having a great time. He had made a life for himself where he gets to travel all over the world and PLAY!

I personally couldn’t imagine how anyone would want to speed down mountainsides, over rocks and roots, around curves at the tops of cliffs, etc. -- this isn’t my idea of play! I could tell the interviewer was thinking about the dangers, just as I was. She asked him how he avoided them, and he said “You tend to go where you look.”

My ears perked up as that sentence vibrated through my body as a spiritual Truth. He told the interviewer he didn’t look at the ground right in front of his bike as he rode, instead he looked about 40 feet ahead. He went on to tell her that as he focused on the point ahead his mind automatically picked up all the dangers on the route, and adjusted his actions accordingly, so he didn’t have to pay any attention to them.

WOW! What a great example for us in Religious Science! We are taught to keep our eye on the finished goal. To see ourselves as already having the consciousness of the thing we desire. As I thought about this, I realized that Infinite Intelligence within us automatically adjusts everything in our life so that we don’t have to get caught up in the fear of the possibility of bumps and rocks! All we have to do is stay focused on the goal!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

We live, move and have our being in a Great Field of Creative Potentiality. This Field has everything within It we could possibly imagine and more. This Field is waiting for us to set an intention, a goal, and then begins to move on our behalf.

I choose now to be clear in my intentions. I choose to see myself as already having that which I desire. I choose to trust Infinite Intelligence to do Its perfect work, in me, as me. I no longer rest my eyes or my mind on the details or the process. I have nothing to fear. I know that as I speak my word for myself and my world today, my word is backed by the Power of Universal Mind. It moves through me with ease, clearing my Path, attracting to me all that I need to fulfill my intentions. I rely on this Power for my life, because It is my Life and know It serves me well.

Gratefully I accept my good, knowing It is here now. And so it is.

In line with my summer theme of play, a friend invited me for a sleep-over. We ate popcorn and drank pop and watched The Secret. WOW! This film is so clearly the message given in New Thought churches around the world every Sunday!! I absolutely love it!! I want to share this film with everyone !

As I watched the film, it reminded me once again how simple our teaching is … yet even with this simplicity we all allow ourselves at one time or another to become mesmerized in the ways of the world. Knowing what we know, why do we do this? The Master Teacher Jesus told us to live in the world but be not of it. To me this means to live one day at a time, each moment at a time, fully and authentically, yet don’t get attached to it.

We are being bombarded with information telling us about the horrors of life. There is war, poverty, illness, etc., etc.. I once walked into a T-shirt shop and laughed at one that read “Starring in my Own Soap Opera.” That’s what we’re collectively creating here – the human story – a first class melodramatic soap opera, and we are allowing ourselves to become attached to the details.

In our attachments we spend most of our energy resisting that which we consider negative. Think about diets - we know what we want - to have a healthy body - and all our energy is spent resisting the things we think would be bad for us. The energy we spend in resistance gives the Universe a message that we want more to resist ... and our diet doesn’t work.

Dr. Holmes said in his last Sermon by the Sea: Find me one person who is for something and against nothing ….”

Our purpose here is not to be against anything, or to fight the negativities of the story, but to be FOR something. We have the privilege to become clear as to what we want in our world (personally and globally). We get to choose what we want, share it with joy, and be grateful that we can so do. We can change this soap opera into an inspirational story.

So - What are you standing for?

There is That Within Me that serves me well. It is the Source and substance of all that is. It works through my thoughts and feelings creating that which I am focusing on.

Today I choose to focus on the good, the beautiful and the true. In other words, I focus on The Divine. I let It move through me unblocked by any resistance to my greater good.

I declare I am a powerful person, filled with the divine radiance. I have everything I need for the fulfillment of my hearts desires. I am healthy, wealthy, wise and loved. I love with an open heart. I share my good with joy.

Spirit within me, as me, is living a wonderful life!

I am so grateful I can re-write my script and attract the perfect inspirational story that suits me perfectly! I am so blessed. And so it is.

I’ve declared this season to be about PLAY … and to me, this means experiencing the Summer of Joy!

Ramakrishna writes:

“One of the signs of God-realization is joy. There is absolutely no hesitancy in such a person, who is like an ocean in joyous waves. But deep beneath the surface, there is profound silence and peace.”

Wouldn’t that be wonderful? To be able to totally let go of the undercurrents many of us live with? Those currents might be called resentment or sadness or even victimhood. There is an old Yiddish proverb that says "What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul." As we resonate with Joy, learning to laugh unconditionally, we can do as Norman Cousins did … heal ourselves from all that is ailing us.

I know, I know – life doesn’t look so cheerful right now with bombs and bills and gas prices. We’ve all got our stories. However we can choose to walk the Via Delarosa (the way of sorrow) or we can be the cause of Great Joy. As I celebrated my 58^th birthday last Wednesday, I decided that the rest of my life I’m choosing Joy.

Joy and laughter are infectious. Have you ever tried not to laugh when everyone around you is? In the garden of my childhood was a statue of Hotei .. the Laughing Buddha. I loved that statue. His arms were above his head, his face wrinkled in a smile. It is said that he traveled from village to village in 16^th century Japan, laughing continuously … his laughter so contagious that everyone would forget their serious questions about enlightenment. His teaching was existential. Hotei wanted everyone to experience the joy that laughter brings as an actual meditation.

Let this be your affirmation this week – not only for yourself, but for all humanity!

Oh Great Spirit of Joy, fill my heart with laughter!!

I celebrate the Joy of The Divine today, and allow myself to recognize this aspect of my own Being.

Regardless of what is happening around me, I smile and I declare “I am a gift of Joy that God gives to a wonderful world.” I let go of the need to be serious about my spirituality. I let go of the need to be serious about my life and the world. I know I am co-creating everything I am experiencing, so I choose to create more Joy. Yesterday I returned from a week long camping trip in the Okanagan. I haven’t been camping since I journeyed to Vancouver, and this was my first camping trip with children. After 7 days of letting go of what I wanted to do in honour of the girls having a great holiday -- I have so much appreciation for you parents! How do you do it!?!?

This is what I did:

Steal intimate moments with God, as you would with a precious lover. -- Alan Cohen

I remember these moments vividly – some of the best were walking to the washroom from our various campsites (the only alone time I could find). I remember the full moon shining through the pine trees, lighting up the pathway, and an owl flying very close overhead. I remember the bird choirs early in the mornings and what it felt like to have wild birds land on my hand and eat the peanuts I offered them. I remember evening bat songs as they flew through a grove of trees feeding on insects. I remember being 5 feet from a deer who just stood there looking at me without fleeing. I remember being so inspired by Mother Nature’s incredible beauty.

I know all of us have very busy lives, and some of us wonder how we could ever fit in 20 minutes of meditation, some spiritual reading, and Spiritual Mind Treatment, with jobs to go to, families to take care of, and errands to do. So steal them!! The precious moments going within, and being perfectly in the NOW are the most important moments for the maintenance of our sanity. It’s sort of like tithing – even though it looks like there won’t be enough money if we set aside a tithe, there always is. When we set aside time for our spiritual practices, there is more than enough time for everything else, and indeed, this time set apart with our Beloved, makes all other moments so much more valuable.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

The Power and Presence of The Beloved sustains me. It is all there ever has been, is now or will be. It is everything I can experience with my senses and so much more – and I claim It as my own Self.

In this moment, I breathe deeply and allow myself to be still. I am totally in the moment. In this very moment, there is nothing to worry about, nothing to plan, nothing to fear. There is only Love. I allow myself to see and feel the Love of The Beloved. I see It in everything I have created around me. I feel It in the depth of my being. I hear It in the beat of my heart and all the sounds around me. I can touch It just by touching anything with the tips of my fingers. I can taste it in the things I eat and drink.

I choose now to have more precious moments with My Beloved. I know these moments are the lifeblood of my existence. In them I feel the fullness of Being and know I am an emanation of The One.

Gratefully I celebrate my life. I know it is God’s Life, and it up to me to make it a good one, and so I do. And So It Is.

In Alan Cohen’s e-newsletter this week, he gave a link to a Honda ad that is amazing. He writes:

If you ever wondered about cause and effect, this mind-boggling Honda TV ad will astound and illuminate you! There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in the film. Everything you see really happened in real time. The commercial took 606 takes over weeks of shooting day and night. Cost was $6,000,000, with three months of engineering to set it up. All the parts are from two of the six handmade Honda Accords in the world. Enjoy!

It reminded me of a story that Rev. Doug Craig told quite a few years ago when he visited my church in Hawai’i. At the time, he was the leader of the Red Deer Centre and had to drive to Calgary for some errands. A friend had to go into town as well, so they went together. Afterwards they decided to stop for dinner at a restaurant they knew. Rev. Doug pulled into the first parking place he saw on the street and got teased by his friend, because, after all, he should be able to manifest a parking space right in front. He decided to humour her, and sure enough, just as they drove up, another car pulled out of the space right in front of the restaurant. As Rev. Doug got out of his car, he saw a woman’s purse in the street – and at the same time – a picture flashed through his mind of standing behind two women at a corner light. One was saying to the other “I’ve lost my purse, and I don’t know what to do. I’m praying someone honest found it.”

Because both Rev. Doug and his friend were very hungry, they decided to take the purse to the police after they’d eaten, and he put it in his car. After dinner, Doug’s friend said she wanted to quickly visit a bookstore close by, so they set off in that direction. At the corner, Rev. Doug found himself behind two women …. And yes, one was saying “I’ve lost my purse ….” He tapped her on the shoulder, took her to his car, and handed her her purse.

I love this story, because it is delightful example of the Law of Cause and Effect in action. If you’ve watched the Honda video clip, you will realize that everything in this story, just as in the video, had to happen exactly as it did so that things would turn out for everyone’s highest and best good.

Perhaps if there’s an area in your life where things are looking like they are falling apart –you might consider that Divine Right Action is taking place, and things are really falling into their right and perfect places. Or if you’ve been Treating for a certain experience and it still hasn’t manifested, you might consider that the Universal Gears are in action, declare that you know it to be so, and remember: We are indeed dealing with Infinite Intelligence, and It is working through us every moment!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

We live and move and have our being in an infinite Field of creative potentiality. This Field is both Love and Law. This Field serves us as we focus our attention on it. This Field has many names, each one both personal and impersonal to us. I call It The Divine.

Today I celebrate The Divine and the intricate ways It works in my life. I embody the Truth that It is done unto me as I believe, and I believe I am One with The Divine. All that It is, I am.

I set my intentions with care and watch them manifest with joy, knowing that in this infinite Field of creative potentiality, everything is moving into its right and perfect place to serve me well.

Gratefully I celebrate my position as co-creator. All is well in my world. And so it is.

Regardless of whether we are celebrating Canada Day or Independence Day .. in this part of the world our weekend is about Freedom. For some, this word means freedom “from” something – an absence of external restraints: ie: freedom from oppression as in political & religious freedom. For others, it is freedom “for” something, as in the freedom to live in peace.

Dr. Holmes writes in the glossary of the Science of Mind: “Real freedom means we are created in the image of perfection and left alone and allowed to make the discovery for ourselves.” In other words, freedom could be a name for behaviour based on conscious choices rather than automatic programming.

What freedom really is, is a state of consciousness. Every moment we are choosing either freedom or bondage. As I’m complaining about aspects of life, I’m in bondage. As I release myself from the hamster wheel of negativity, I am free.

Most of us are praying for world peace – and as we celebrate our freedom as the collective consciousness called Canada or the United States, it is important for us to remember that freedom & peace start at home - within us.

The Master Jesus said “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." John 8:31,32.

He was saying “As I stand in Principle, I am free.” The bottom line is “It is done unto us as we believe.” Every time we choose to remember that we are expressing The One, we are healing old negative beliefs and in essence, signing our personal declarations of independence! In our “signing” we are sending the ripples of our consciousness across this Infinite Field of Creative Potentiality … creating Peace.

One of the things I love about this holiday is the fireworks. There is something magical about these wonderful displays of great bursts of coloured light. Millions of people feel as I do. Metaphysically, let’s use each burst as an “Ah Ha” moment of freedom, and let the Light of Peace illuminate our world!

A Prayer for World Peace, by Dr. Ernest Holmes

"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof..."

I know there is but One Mind, which is the Mind of God, in which all people live and move and have their being. I know there is a Divine Pattern for humanity and within this pattern there is Infinite harmony and peace, cooperation, unity and mutual helpfulness.

I know that the mind of man, being one with the Mind of God, shall discover the method, the way and the means best fitted to permit the flow of Divine Love between individuals and nations. Thus harmony, peace, cooperation, unity and mutual helpfulness will be experienced by all. I know there shall be a free interchange of ideas, of cultures, of spiritual concepts, of ethics, of educational systems and scientific discoveries - for all good belongs to all alike. I know that, because the Divine Mind has created us all, we are bound together in one Infinite and perfect unity.

In bringing about World Peace, I know that all people and all nations will remain individual, but unified for the common purpose of promoting peace, happiness, harmony and prosperity.

I know that deep within every person the Divine Pattern of perfect peace is already implanted.

I now declare that in each man and in leaders of thought everywhere this Divine Pattern moves into action and form, to the end that all nations and all people shall live together in peace, harmony, and prosperity forever.

So it is now.
