Honor the Decision, One Moment at a Time

Yesterday a great man died who spent most of his life working for freedom.   Today I watched a video from Mary Morrisey where she recounted her meeting with Nelson Mandela.  She had asked him how he’d gone from being an angry young man to one who was known for promoting peace.   He told her he had to make a decision, and then honor that decision, one moment at a time.

Dr. Holmes writes in the Science of Mind “The one who wishes to demonstrate some particular good must become conscious of this particular good, if they wish to experience it.”   Mr. Mandela’s decision was made in prison where he lived in for 27 years.  That means the only place he could have become conscious of the ‘particular good’ was in his mind.

He told Mary Morrisey that he constantly had to ask himself “If my being in this moment were actually part of something much bigger, much more important, then how would I be in this moment?”   We now know that a small jail cell can’t stop one who has a greater idea.

What ‘particular good’ do you want?   How would you be if it was already true?    Be that!  We no longer have any excuses.

AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER

I know there is only one Mind – the infinitely intelligent Mind that is the Source and substance of all.  The energy of this Mind fills me so completely I think It is my mind, however it’s my use of this One Mind that is co-creating my reality.

Knowing this, I am open to becoming conscious of the particular good I desire.  This good not only benefits me, but it serves the highest and best for all.  I now live each moment as if the good I desire is here now.
Whatever my good is, it is God in form, and I celebrate that!

Gratefully I release these words into the Law of Mind, knowing they are already so.   And so it is.

Always Better than I Imagined

Last weekend, a group of us went to our fairgrounds to decorate a Christmas tree for the Kennedy Kreiger Tree Festival. The building was big and cold. There were boxes everywhere and lots of undecorated trees.  The tree we got was much smaller than we thought it would be.  Our ornaments were caterpillars and butterflies that we’d made from recycled plastic bottles and other things.   As we decorated, we started with an idea of what it would look like and discovered ways we could add and subtract things to make it even better.   When we left, it was a sweet little tree we named “The Transformation Tree,” in a big room, surrounded by other trees in the process of being decorated.

The Festival opened Friday morning, and when I walked through the doors, I was surrounded by the lushness of Christmas. Everything, in every direction, was beautiful, even magical, including our little tree.

This is the way the Universe works in my life.  I get an idea, do the work I know how to do, and when the manifestation comes, it’s always better than I could have imagined.   How grateful I am to remember this!

AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER

At the core of all things is the One Source – the Heart of the Universe.  Divine Love flows into my heart and out into my world.

I let the beauty and joy of this holiday season fill me up.  I choose to experience it mindfully. I honor the Divine Gifts that are always being given.  I place my ideas in Mind, knowing It is infinitely intelligent, and do my part, and the results are amazing.  I acknowledge these results with a conscious recognition of the Presence of The Divine.

Gratefully I celebrate how Spirit works today. God is good and all is well in my world.  And so it is.

Dreams Fulfilled

This week has been amazing.   One of my dearest dreams has been fulfilled.  I have in my possession the first copy of my first book!
It’s brought up many memories.  I’ve always wanted to be a writer.  I remembered writing a story in 3rd grade about a rabbit that the nuns praised me for – which made me write another story about  a young girl having a visitation of Mother Mary.  The nuns loved it so much I got to read it to other classes – including the high school ones!  I kept writing – it was so much fun!  I even got in trouble writing a slightly erotic story (as erotic as a virgin of 14 could write 51 years ago) and passing it around my homeroom class for “reviews.”  I wrote stories and articles for popular magazines about current events and got lots of rejection letters. And then I stopped.

It wasn’t until I found the Science of Mind in my early thirties and did a lot of inner work that I started writing again – and for the last 10 years have written a spiritual message once a week that’s gone out via e-mail to over 1000 people.  Now 365 of those writings are sitting in front of me, encased in a beautiful cover that’s an amazing painting called “Galactic Event” by Kelly Walker, a Baltimore artist friend.  My book is even listed on Amazon!!!

I feel like this IS a Galactic Event – now I’ve got the first book in hand, the floodgates are open and the rush of inspiration I felt as a youth is back.  Right now 3 non-fiction and 2 fiction works want to come through.  For a moment I had a “why didn’t I do this sooner” feeling.  I let that go.  The time is now.  There are no longer fears – the fun is back!

What about you?  We all have dreams that we wished we’d achieved when we were younger. It’s never too late for our dreams, so what’s holding You back?
Is it fear that your gift isn’t good enough? Your gift is God given, how could it not be good enough?
Fear that you don’t know enough?  Ernest Holmes writes in the Science of Mind, “The universal Mind contains all knowledge.  It is the potential ultimate of all things.  To it, all things are possible.”    You can trust that wellspring of Infinite Intelligence within you to bring you the information you need.
Fear that you’ll be rejected?  Yes, you might, yet if you’re really intentional about expressing your gifts, you’ll get to the right people at the right time.
Fear that everything will change if you let yourself live your dreams?  Yes, everything will change, and though it might feel uncomfortable for awhile, soon you will realize that Life got better than you can possibly imagine now!

It’s time.  The Universe needs you to fulfill your dreams. Face the fear and do it anyway.  It feels so good!
AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER

We live in an infinite field of creative potential.  This field is made of Divine Energy.  It is flowing all around us and within us.  It is the Source and substance of all that is. It animates our bodies, fills our hearts and empowers our minds.

Knowing that this amazing Divine Energy is both Love and Law, I let my dreams out of the closets of my mind and fill them with Divine Life.  There is nothing too hard for God, so there is nothing too hard for me.

As I let my dreams come out, I feel the Power of them and realize I am the one who’s been hiding.  I choose now to honor my God given gifts and talents with a deep feeling of awe.  I can do this!  I can live my dreams!

How grateful I am to know I am expanding my consciousness to include all of me – to include my dreams and the changes that will come because of them.  I am open to receive all of Life’s blessings as I step out on my Path.  Life is good.

I release these words with Love into the Law of Mind knowing they are done.  And so it is.

I honor you as the Saint that you are!!

I love using religious holidays in my own way – doesn’t matter what religion it is.  Anything that helps me deepen my awareness of my connection with the Divine is wonderful!

Today is All Saints Day, an old feast day in the Catholic calendar celebrating all the saints, known and unknown. Christians had a tradition of celebrating the martyrdom of saints on the anniversary of their death, however, when martyrdoms increased during the persecutions of the late Roman Empire, local dioceses instituted a common feast day in order to ensure that all martyrs were properly honored.

Matthew Fox writes in Confessions "I am reminded of the biblical use of the term saint in the book of Acts. That it applies to each of us. All who are attempting to imitate the Christ in their lives merit the title of 'saint.' Some do it more fully than others and are willing to let go of more to get the job done."

To me, the word “saint” denotes someone who deserves reverent recognition. I agree with Matthew Fox - all of us are saints.  Most of us have played our martyr games, and died to our old life and been reborn.  How many of us recognize that the spiritual work we’re doing on ourselves, or for our world (ie: prayers for peace, etc.) deserves reverent recognition – especially from ourselves!?

If we’re not doing what we think we should be doing spiritually (like meditating or praying daily, doing selfless services, etc.) let’s let go of feeling guilty and be grateful we do what we do.

I honor you as the Saint that you are!!

AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER

Love points the way and Law makes the way possible. Love and Law are two aspects of The Divine - that unconditionally loving, infinitely intelligent Presence that is the Source of all things - that permeates all things.

Love and Law are at work in me now as I speak this word:

I declare I am ready and willing to experience my divinity right now. I am ready and willing to KNOW my True Self - God in form. I now acknowledge all I have the work I have done to get to this place in my spiritual evolution.  I use this awareness to serve my world with love and gratitude.

As I declare these things, Infinite Intelligence goes before me preparing the way that Love has pointed out through me. With a grateful heart, I release these words, knowing they are already done. And so it is.

Change Your Picture Change Your Life

I just love the way the Universe gives me messages!

I was watching a show on Netflix – Hart of Dixie. The main character is a young woman who’d been trained as a brain surgeon but was turned down for a prestigious fellowship and ends up working in a very small town as a GP.  She was complaining about things, obviously disappointed with her life, when the young man she was talking to stopped her and said “You’ve got to change the picture,” and when she looked at him quizzically went on to say “Here you are in the midst of all this natural beauty, with new friends  and  a new life,  accepted as our town doctor,  but you can’t see any of it, because your picture of yourself is a highly skilled brain surgeon in New York.  Your picture is keeping you unhappy.  Change your picture and change your life.”

Whoa – Change your picture and change your life.  This is a whole new way of thinking about this idea. I’ve learned to create a vision of what I desire and know that I’ll attract it to myself, yet how many times have I been disappointed because I’m not doing what I think I should be doing?  How much of my life did I miss because I was in that Valley of Disappointment?

Resisting what is brings mental and emotional pain.  Acceptance of what is brings peace.  Resistance comes from not honoring our choices of the moment (and yes, I believe we’ve chosen whatever we’re experiencing).  If we want to be happy, resistance is futile.

Am I saying to drop the dreams you’ve always had?  No, not at all.  Accepting what is doesn’t mean you have to stay in it.  I am saying we might as well be consciously present right where our bodies are, and experience the now moments.  One way to get out of that valley of disappointment is to realize that the highest and best for all concerned is being served.  We can still chose those things our heart wants to do and know that the experience we’re having now is part of the process of obtaining them.

“Bloom where you’re planted” a greeting card said.  I agree.

AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER

I celebrate the powerful presence of the Divine.  It is absolutely everywhere.  It is the Source and substance of all that is.  It is God, and God is Life and Life is Good.

I know there is a place for me, a place that satisfies my soul.  Regardless of what my experience is, I declare that where I am in this moment is the right place to be. I open my eyes to see, my ears to hear and my heart to feel.  I let go of what I think I am supposed to be, or supposed to be doing.  I am here for the highest and best for all concerned.  Whether I am consciously aware of it or not, I am serving humanity by accepting what is, experiencing the present moment, and letting it carry me into my dreams.  I change my mental picture and change my life.

How grateful I am to become more conscious of the ways of my heart and mind.  How grateful I am to be able to choose.  I now release these words to Spiritual Law, knowing they are so, and so it is.
