Last week while visiting the washroom at Starbucks I looked up at poster of a tree with words all over it … the words on the trunk jumped out at me:

"The deeper the roots, the higher the reach."

I don't remember what else was written on the poster, because that statement was so profound. I began to wonder "How deep are my roots?"

Years ago I planted a Kukui Nut Tree in my back yard. The early Hawaiians used the nuts as lamps because of a pool of oil that filled the top of the nut. They considered the Kukui a sacred plant and a symbol of enlightenment.

I nurtured that tree, and it grew large and beautifully. It even grew leaves with seven points instead of five, which I took to be a mystical symbol. It grew white Kukui nuts on it, which I wasn't expecting as they are more rare - another mystical symbol. I could feel the energy of this tree as I nurtured it. I gave it love and it gave me strength. I would take visitors out to see it so they could feel the energy. I loved this tree.

Then one day we had a tremendous windstorm. The upper part of the tree was ripped off, and the roots were torn up. A friend who specialized in Hawaiian plants said the root system was too shallow. He replanted it properly yet it didn't have the same feeling for me. I felt like part of me had been torn up. I mourned that tree.

I meditated on the experience and realized I had put my Power outside of myself. I had given it to the tree. The tree did wonderfully for a while, but when a challenge came up, it couldn't stand up to it.

That's what happens to us when we give our Power away. When our Spiritual roots aren't deep enough. What are those roots? They are the Presence at the very core of our being. They support all our thoughts and feelings. They support our expression of Divine Life. It might look like we're reaching to the sky, but when push comes to shove, if our spiritual roots are not deep, we fall apart. How do we make them stronger? Through doing our spiritual practices, consistently and consciously. And not just with our thoughts. Dr. Holmes writes in the Science of Mind "The Creative Power responds to feeling more quickly than to any other mental attitude." Let yourself feel your meditation and Spiritual Mind Treatments, and your roots will grow deep and the higher your consciousness will reach.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

The perfect Presence of The Divine is around me and within me. It is my lifeline. It is my roots.

I choose today to nurture my roots and allow myself to flourish. I do my spiritual practices with grace and love. I gather my power back from all the places I have left it, and allow myself to see that my true Power is Present Within.

As I contemplate these roots in my meditation and Treatment work, I recognize my Source. I allow myself to expand into Christ Consciousness, empowering me to say "If you see me, you see God." I celebrate my awareness of the Sacredness of all Life.

There is only One, and that One is working through me according to my deepest feelings and beliefs. I rejoice in knowing these Principles, and working with them as I create a more authentic life.

I am grateful that my roots are deep and my Life is Divine. And so It is.

Once again I'm grateful to the Mountainview Alliance Church on 200 St. who's marquee gives me inspiration on the drive home. A few days ago it read:

Use your past as a springboard not a sofa.

When I first saw this I started laughing, remembering a commercial where young man was sitting on the couch watching TV, and when he turned off the TV and tried to get up, the couch tried to suck him into it, and even chased him through the house when he got away.

Then I started thinking. We love a comfy sofa. Sometimes the sofa is old and threadbare, yet because it's comfortable and familiar, we don't want to replace it – we just throw a cover over it, and continue to use it anyway. Sometimes we sit down on the sofa, and a sort of laziness comes over us, and it's easier to just sit or lay there, than get up and be productive.

Are we like that with the stories of our past? Do we sink into those stories, and because they are so familiar, do we find it difficult to rise above them? Do we try to cover them up? Do we let them become entities, chasing us through our lives? Do we let them immobilize us?

Yes, we do. Sometimes we live in those stories as if they are happening today. Sometimes instead of doing the work necessary to move beyond those stories, we cover them up with excuses, or rationalize them.

All of our experiences are meant to move us along our evolutionary path. None of them are permanent. We can let go. We can and have learned from our history. It truly is time to let our past be our springboard – individually and collectively.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

There is only One Life – that Life is God's Life, and It is living Itself through and as me right now. It always has and It always will.

I rejoice in knowing this, because it reminds me that everything I have ever said or done has been the right thing for the moment. How can God make a mistake?

It was the right thing for that moment, perhaps not this one. Therefore I let go of my stories of the past. I will always have a history, but I do not need to be attached to it.

Because I remember I am in the process of creating new history with every thought and feeling, I declare I have learned what I wanted to learn from each story I created, and have let those stories be a springboard into my now. I declare I am fully present. I live in this moment, authentically. Each moment is a Divine Moment and I make it a good one. More springboards into my future!

Gratefully I release these words into the Law of Mind, recognizing their value. The Truth sets me free!!

And So It Is.

March 28, 2008

Blessings to you,

A few Wednesday nights ago, before the New Earth Study Group, we saw a Mother deer and two young ones in the meadow outside the Centre. Both Cheryl and I said that at first we felt a thrilling rush of excitement that settled into a feeling of awe as we watched them.

What is it about this type of experience in nature that excites us so? Perhaps it is because we rarely have the opportunity. Perhaps it is because all nature, except for us, lives in the Now. All of nature is just Being, and our soul recognizes this.

The deer were not concerned with bills, work, current affairs or the state of the world. They didn't care who was watching them or why. They were doing what they wanted in the moment, and at that moment it was to savor some of the succulent grasses in the meadow.

How often do we allow ourselves to be so present? This morning while I was making coffee, I wasn't really there. I was thinking about some things I want to do in the garden. All of us have had the experience of being in the car, and finding ourselves at our destination with no memory of how we got there. We were probably thinking of work or our families, but certainly not focused on driving. We spend very little time being present.

Let's practice Being this week. The late Rev. Helen Street said to be present all one had to do was be where their body was. My re-entry into my body is through the breath. When I realize I'm not in Present Time, I breathe deeply and re-connect. We might be doing a lot of breathing this week – yet I KNOW it is worth it!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Divine Life is Sacred Energy. It is the Presence that permeates all things. It is the Presence that is the Source of all things. It is the Life Force that animates this Universe. It is my Life.

I choose to vibrate at the level of the Sacred. I do this by honouring Present Time. I allow myself to Be. I am conscious as I go about my daily affairs. I am where my body is. I am awake and aware of myself as an expression of Divine Life.

Gratefully I celebrate Life and all It contains. I celebrate walking on sacred ground, and knowing Who I Am. I release these words, knowing they are my Truth, And so It is.

Aloha …

This weekend as we move into the Easter Holy days, we are reminded of the ongoingness of Life. The story of Jesus' final days is one of death and rebirth, a process we are continually going through.

A friend sent me a link to a magnificent story … it's educational and inspirational – funny and sad - and well worth watching. http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/229. It's a video of a brain scientist who had a stroke and studied it as she was having it … and had some major revelations about WHO WE ARE!

I KNOW for us this Easter that we release the little self we have accepted up until now, and allow ourselves to step into our authenticity. We are Spirit, having an experience that we've chosen to call being human. And how wonderful this experience can be!

Again our affirmation: I AM AWAKE!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

There is One Life – It is animating me, breathing me, living my life as me. It is Divine Love made manifest as me. It is Divine Law working through me.

Today I choose to let go of all I have created before this moment. I breathe deeply and step into the True Reality of my Self. I am Divine Energy. As I recognize this, I feel this energy moving through my body, healing and blessing it. As I contemplate this, I feel this energy expanding and moving into my world, nurturing and blessing it. As I experience this, it returns to me, pressed down and running over and my live is good.

This is Divine Life and I am so grateful to have chosen to live It fully. I am re-born each moment into my authenticity, and it is good. And so it is.

March 14

Infinite worlds appear and disappear in the vast expanse of my own consciousness, like motes of dust dancing in a beam of light."
– ancient Vedic saying, printed in the preface of Deepak Chopra's "Creating Affluence"

Years ago I met a friend's grandmother who lived to be over 100 years old. She fascinated me because during her lifetime she had seen people cross the continent in covered wagons and men walk on the moon. When we talked about her various experiences, I realized how many lifetimes she had lived in.

We have too. Each of us has lived many lifetimes in the time we've been here. We've been children, students, parents, sisters/brothers, employees, friends, lovers, etc.. When we look back, each of these lifetimes has been fleeting.

The universe is changing constantly. Joseph Campbell wrote "In the blink of Brahma's eye, worlds are born." Driving down the highway, we noticed stands of budding daffodils. There is so much beauty to experience, so much joy to feel in the glory of each flower, each tree, each rock, each person, each moment. Thank God we are learning how to live consciously!

Again our affirmation: I AM AWAKE!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Today I affirm my conscious connection with the All That Is. I recognize Divine Life as It flows through me and through all of creation. Everywhere I am, I am standing on holy ground.

I choose to be consciously awake. I choose to experience a constantly deepening connection with Divine Self. I allow myself to feel the joy of this connection, the aliveness of being Real.

Everyone I meet today feels the aliveness of Spirit, whether they consciously recognize It as such or not. As I walk through my experiences I am a Lamp of Love and Light. I know who I AM. I AM Awake.

Gratefully I honour Life. I love who I am. I release my words to the Law of Mind knowing they are my Truth. I am so blessed. And so It is.

WOW!   Over 500,000 people from all over the world tuned in to watch Oprah's web class with Eckhart Tolle!!  What an exciting time we live in!!  We can see that the world is manifesting the vision statement of Religious Science International:

Awakening Humanity to Its Spiritual Magnificence

500,000 might seem like a small number compared to the 6 billion that live on our planet … and if Oprah's class is anything like some of mine, by week 3 some will have dropped out … but that's not what we focus on.  Let's focus on the idea that we are standing in the forefront of the vanguard for the New Earth, and that we in New Thought have the training to change our thinking – change the world!!

Our mission as members of the vanguard, should we choose to accept it, is to continue to study these Principles and consciously use them for the greater good of all.  To live in Present Time as much as we possibly can.  To acknowledge and honour all life.  To KNOW our True Selves.

Thank you for being involved in this exciting evolutionary emergence with me!!

Our affirmation for this week:

I AM AWAKE!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

We live in an infinite field of creative potentiality.  This Field is the Energy of the One.  The One Source and Substance of all that is.  This Field is filled with Love and works through Law, using each of us as It's vehicle for transformation.

I now declare I am ready and willing to be a part of the transformation process.  I understand that my tools are within me, and that by changing myself I am participating in the emergence of an awakened consciousness for all.

I now release all thoughts and feelings from my subjective mind that would hamper my progress.  I stand "naked in the Truth" allowing Spirit Within to use me in the way I am best suited.  Like a butterfly I have emerged from the chrysalis of the past and stretch my spiritual wings and fly!  As I fly, I see all of live rising as well, and this is good, very good.

With a grateful heart, I celebrate our transformation!!   And so It is.

The other day on the freeway as I passed a truck, I read

"Power Generation Specialist"

written on the side.   I was so taken by the phrase I can't remember what company was being advertised.

Ernest Holmes defines "Power" in the Science of Mind glossary as:

"The energy by which everything lives.  The Creative Medium of Spirit is the great Mental Law of the Universe.  It is the one Medium  through which all Law and all Power operate.  And our creative power is marvelous; for every time we think, we set the Law in motion.  As our thought sets the Law in motion, we are specializing It for some definite purpose.  This should give to all a sense of freedom and a realization that there is neither competition nor monopoly.  It leaves each to work out their own salvation, not with fear and trembling, but with a calm sense of peace and assurance.  We may transmute as much of the Infinite Energy into degrees of power as we choose to use."

The Power we're generating is within us … as we study It, recognize It and claim It, we specialize It's use.

This is your title -- Power Generation Specialist!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

I recognize an awesome Power that is the Source and substance of all things.   It flows through me with ease, directed by my thoughts and feelings.

I choose today to be the day I claim my abilities with this Power.   I allow It to move through me with my consciousness awareness that I am directing It for love, health, wealth and creativity.  I am focusing It for deep inner peace and a joyous experience of Life.

The Power Within is my Life.  With a grateful heart, I celebrate this Truth.

And So It Is.

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed you thought you just couldn’t do what was in front of you? Many of us just keep putting one foot in front of the other, getting more and more tired and cranky, however, here’s a tip:

When you think you can't .... Remember a time when you could.

Last month I stood in my basement where boxes of stuff belonging to me and the Centre have been stored for a long time. I couldn’t handle it. That mountain of boxes needed to be sorted and repacked. It looked insurmountable! I felt like crying and my mind was whining (“I’ll never get finished”, I’m too old for this!” and other such things) and my body ached just thinking about it. I distracted myself and time went by.

Last week I stood in the same position and as my mind started to think those same thoughts, I reined it in. “Hey” I told it – “we’ve done this before – it’s never as bad as it looks!” I reflected on all the moves I have made since being an adult and how they were all successful. I have no moving horror stories! Then I reminded my mind about the benefits of this move – my moving in with my Beloved, and the Centre now having its own office. I picked up the first box and began. Cheryl Keating joined me a couple of days, and boy is she amazing! So organized and quick it is inspiring!! Now it’s a few days before the movers come, I’m almost finished, and it wasn’t as insurmountable as it looked!

We need to pay more attention to our successes! One thing I noticed quite clearly. Thinking about how hard it was going to be is draining energetically. Thinking about how I’ve always done it well in the past was empowering.

How about you? What challenges are you facing? Think about a time when you succeeded and let that memory carry you forward. Dr. Holmes writes in the Science of Mind that memory is an active thing. The energy is still working in our subjective mind!! You don’t even have to remember a time when you succeeded doing the same thing. Just knowing you can do what ever you set your mind to (once we get it to stop whining J) is empowering!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Right here, right now, I recognize Infinitely Intelligent Love as the Power, Presence and Atmosphere of my life. I know Love is everywhere, including within me, and I am now consciously aligned with It. In me, as me, through me, God is One with Itself.

From this place of awareness, I open my mind to remember my successes. This fills me with a sense of peace and empowerment. I KNOW I can do anything I put my mind to do, because there is only One Mind, and this is the mind I am using.

God in me can do anything, so I let go of my complaining. As I let go, I make room for the awareness that I am more than I think I am. Who I am in Truth is a successful, competent, loving person. I am empowered by this realization, and any challenge I face becomes smaller. I am capable of great things!

I gratefully accept this Truth. I remember who I am. I release these words into the Law of Mind, knowing it is done. God is good, and all is well in my world. And so it is.

Charles Fillmore, the founder of Unity, at the age of 94, said, "I fairly sizzle with zeal and enthusiasm and spring forth with a mighty faith to do the things that ought to be done by me!"

WOW! Now that’s living an authentic life!!

“I fairly sizzle ….” When was the last time you felt like that? What would it be like if our lives excited us this much?

Regardless of how much we are tired of winter, bills, our work, etc., we can choose to Sizzle! The coming of Spring is a good time to make a choice to feel this way.

I read a quote by Earon Davis on the Gaia website recently:

“As we get older, the future gets shorter, and the past gets longer, but the present deepens.”

Too often we’ve allowed ourselves to become bogged down by the busyness and routines of our daily lives. Choosing to Sizzle will deepen our present moments … and in Truth these are the only moments we have … we might as well experience them consciously!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

I recognize the power of the Divine absolutely everywhere. The whole universe is alive with Its energy. This is true for me as well. I fairly sizzle with enthusiasm. I am alive in Spirit and Spirit is alive in me!

I choose to feel the Sizzle more than I ever have before. My life aligns itself with my Divine Purpose. My body is healthy. My financial life is abundant. My work is fulfilling. My relationships are a perfect expression of Divine Love.

Divine Energy crackles through everything I experience. I am joy filled and so grateful to be so excited about Life.

God is good, and all is well in my world. And so it is.

Dear Ones,

In a recent CBC interview, Poet and activist Maya Angelou said “We are in the throes of finding out who we really are. How courageous we really are. How intelligent we really are.” Ms. Angelou was referring to the American people in regards to the upcoming elections … yet I see this as a more Universal Truth.

Regardless of appearances, in fact, because of them, we are waking up – globally and individually!

We’ve come to a point in our collective consciousness where we realize it is up to us to do the work we’ve wanted others to do for us. It’s up to us to take dominion. We’ve actually had dominion all along, and now we’re becoming conscious of it. As we choose to have dominion, we are choosing to live in the fullness of our Divinity.

Ok, just what does “Take dominion” mean? It means to take our Power back! Many people had given their power away to doctors, lawyers, the media, families, etc. They stopped thinking for themselves. Taking dominion means to stop being a follower and use the precious gift of Mind and use It consciously.

This definitely takes courage!! Ms. Angelou went to say “without courage you cannot practice any other virtue consistently. You cannot be consistently fair, kind, true or generous. I have the courage to do what I know I must do.”

The word courage has its roots in the Latin word for heart. Let’s open our hearts to the fullness of our Being, and recognize how courageous and intelligent we are!

Take dominion of our lives!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

I celebrate the Divine Essence within me. I recognize the infinite intelligence of Divine Mind and the unconditional love of the Universal Heart. In this Presence I live and move and have my being. It is my Life.

Today I choose to take my power back from all the places I have given it away. I let go of what I think other people think or feel about me or how I am living my life. I choose to express the Divine with my heart, mind and body. I see It’s effects in all areas of my life. As I embrace more Spirit, I have more love, health, money and creativity. I am a well-spring of Good. My heart is courageous, my mind is strong, my Life is God’s life!!

Gratefully I celebrate all I AM, and all I am experiencing as I live a Divine Life. And so it is.

I got an IPOD last week and a docking station with great speakers. Whoo Hoo! It is a whole new learning curve for me. When I can't figure something out, I've discovered the children at the Breakfast Club that our Centre sponsors on Mondays, are really good teachers!

I, who what seems like not-so-many-years-ago, was so excited about owning a transistor radio, can hardly believe the capabilities of this tiny machine. I did notice that there are two functions that made me start thinking. One is for "shuffle" and one is for "repeat." If I set the IPOD to "Shuffle" it will search my all my music and play things randomly - no particular order. One moment I'm listening to Beethoven, the next to Ricky Byers- Beckwith. If I set it to "Repeat" the IPOD will play the same song over an over again.

I think we have those functions in our minds. If we're not focused the Universe shuffles though the collective consciousness and helps us attract whatever "fad" thought is closest to our dominant thoughts. Or if we're stuck in some old experience and keep replaying it in our minds and conversations, the Universe helps us attract more of the same.

In my new toy, when I want to hear a particular song - I have to choose the playlist and then the song. In our consciousness, our playlists could be prosperity, health, relationships, work, spirituality, etc.. It's our job as Religious Scientists to pay attention to the music we are choosing!

And isn't that really "the Secret" -- to PAY ATTENTION!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

I honour the powerful Presence of Divine Mind. I know It is everywhere present, infinitely intelligent and It is within me.

As I open myself more fully to Its Presence, It guides me in the choices I make according to my level of receptivity. Therefore I now declare I choose to make only powerful, positive choices for my life! Choices that will benefit not only myself, but all who are in my circle of influence. I declare Divine Right Action is always taking place, and it is Good, because It is God.

I step into greater expectancy of this Good. I trust the Law and welcome Its results. I am intelligent, loving, active, strong, healthy, wealthy, wise and totally fulfilled. I love my life, because I know there is only One Life, and that is God's Life, and this is the Life I am living.

Gratefully I release these words to the Law, knowing they are already done. And so It is!

This afternoon I watched a blue heron fishing in the creek behind my home. It was an awesome and interesting experience for me. Awesome because being able to observe nature at work is … well … awesome. Interesting, because I also observed myself while watching.

You see, a heron spends a lot of time just standing still. Then suddenly, there’s a quick dart and a couple of swallows, and that part of the meal is over. When it moves, it moves very slowly, and then again there is the stillness.

I had a hard time watching the stillness. I even got out my binoculars to see if its eyes were moving during that stillness, but they weren’t. I knew something was going to happen soon and didn’t want to look away, but the stillness seemed like it stretched into agonizing hours! My mind was racing with the things that I “should” be doing. I had to argue with it to make it ok to just stand and watch - after all, how often does one get to see a heron fishing?

I liken this experience to my learning how to meditate. At first, even five minutes seemed like hours, and I was in constant conflict with trying to quiet my mind. Then a wonderful meditation teacher, Eicho Michi, told me to think of those thoughts as clouds passing in the sky above. Not to get attached to them, and if I did, release them and gently return to the stillness.

Eckhart Tolle writes in “Stillness Speaks:” Your innermost sense of self, of who you are, is inseparable from stillness. We’ve allowed ourselves to become so mesmerized with the need to DO that stillness is foreign. Yet stillness is our Truth. That heron taught me that in the stillness all needs are met. What you want is attracted to you.

Stillness is where all creation begins. Stillness is God.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

God is infinite Self awareness, infinite Love. It is the centrepoint for everything that ever was, is now or will be. I live in the centrepoint and Divine Life radiates from me.

No longer am I mesmerized by the ways of the world. I choose today to spend more time in the stillness. I choose to stand at the point of creation. The whole world might be wobbling around me, yet my stillness lets me live my life in grace. This grace is reflected in the people and experiences around me, and it is good, very good.

Gratefully I celebrate the Law that honours my choices with ease. I celebrate the Truth that sets me free. I release these words knowing they are done now. And so It is.

Friday, January 18, 2008

The other day at coffee, Rev. Liz Luamo shared one of the late Rev. Helen Street’s sayings. For those of you who don’t know, Rev. Helen was my teacher. I was so happy to be reminded of this one – and know that you will be too.

“I live with the assumption that the Universe is absolutely crazy about me!!”

How would your life be if you KNEW you were absolutely loved? That someone was crazy about you? Remember your first love? It seemed like nothing could go wrong. We felt more beautiful or more handsome because of this person. With my first love, I knew he would do anything for me, just as I would for him. Life was good and we knew it was only going to get better.

We’ve all had that first love – and many spend the rest of their lives looking for that special feeling. Think of The Universe as your “First Love” with all its positive, fun qualities. Know that unlike human first love, the Love that is Universal Love never ends. What would it take for us to believe this? How would our behaviour be different?

This is a Truth we cannot get away from - we are loved by Love – an unconditional, all encompassing Love. It is here for us, surrounds us, supports us, lives through us. It will do anything for us. It reflects our true beauty.

YES, The Universe is crazy about us! This is truly something awesome to contemplate this week.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

I live in the One Heart. I am open to the wonders of One Love. This Inner Presence loves me so much It became me, to live my life as me.

I now accept that the Universe is crazy about me. I live as a being totally immersed in Love. I am loved, loving and loveable. My life reflects this Truth as I walk my daily Path. My relationships, health, work and finances all reflect how much the Universe is in love with me. Life is good, very good.

I release these words into the Law of Mind knowing they are my Truth. Gratefully I embodied being Love. And So It Is.

NOTE: Round 3 of THANK GOD IM RICH starts on January 15th see announcement below!

Dear Ones,

I am so grateful to a couple of churches in my area with big marquees – I get inspired by their messages. This week I read:

Is prayer your steering wheel or spare tire?

Years ago when I told my Mother I was going to become a minister, she asked Do you really believe in God? Out of my mouth came my truth of the moment Yes, when Im in trouble.

Is this what we do with Spiritual Mind Treatment? Use it when were in trouble? If it is our spare tire, we are only using it in emergencies – to heal a condition or transform an uncomfortable situation. Sometimes that spare tire is flat and we have to pump it up to use it. Sometimes were so caught up in our emergencies our Treatments dont seem to work. We have to work harder.

If we are using Spiritual Mind Treatment as our steering wheel, then it is our guide down Lifes Path. It is constantly being maintained, instantly available.

Wouldnt you rather be enjoying the drive than having to change the tires??

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Today I choose to let my Self be the driving force in my life. I recognize the Allness of The Divine. I recognize Divine Law at work.

I AM the one consciously driving the Law. I am so grateful for the tool of Spiritual Mind Treatment. As I use it on a daily basis, I realize my word has power. I am the focal point for Divine Life to move into the world. I enjoy the ride, because I can be in Present Time.

Gratefully I celebrate my consciousness for attracting this faith tradition. It is good, very good. And So It Is.

OK – the Holiday Bills are coming in – dont panic!! Join me for 60 days of Prosperity Thinking with the 3rd session of THANK GOD IM RICH! Your assignment, if you choose it, will be to read and think about the daily e-mail I send you. Dont worry, most of them are short, and can be contemplated at any time!! To sign up, respond via e-mail. revangelica@gmail.com Your opportunity starts on January 15th!

I am always available for listening, counseling and Spiritual Mind Treatment. Contact me by calling 604-514-4684 or via e-mail.

Opening Month of 2008

On many of the birthday cards I send, I write I know this is your best year ever!! I send this message to all of us today I KNOW this is our best year ever!!
However, I also know something else – our best year ever wont just happen - we have to make it so!
As we stand in this opening month of 2008, lets do so with a conscious awareness of who we are and what were doing here. Who we are is God. There is no way we can deny it. God is absolutely everything and everywhere, including us. What were doing is experiencing GodLife – and the great thing, or the challenging thing, (which ever you choose) is that were making it up as we think and feel. The Law of Attraction is always at work!
If youre like me, you received some calendars as gifts. Setting up my calendar is a sacred experience for me. I love not only looking at the pictures and reading the words, but gazing at those empty white boxes that fill every month. They are like a canvas, and my thoughts and feelings are the medium with which I work. First I look to see what day the holidays fall on, then I fill in families and friends birthdays. (Ohhh, my 60th will be on a Saturday this year - July 19th – watch out for a “’60s Hippie party!) Then I think about what I intend to have happen – for instance, Asilomar (Religious Science Internationals summer conference) will be happening July 27 – August 2. Those dates are now marked Asilomar. I then sit in gratitude for all that will soon fill up the rest of the squares. I declare I attract experiences that fulfill my soul.
I will continue to Know for you that this is Your Best Year Ever. Accept this blessing with a grateful heart, and expect the very best. Believe it in your heart, and see it in your minds eye. Allow your intuition to show you the way. Visualize what seems to be impossible as possible! Be ready to experience Great Good! Keep your eyes open – Pay Attention! The whole Universe is conspiring to give you a Great Life!
SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT
Gratefully I accept the powerful Presence of Great Good. It is Life – the Life I am living, and the Life that permeates all things. It is Love and Law, and It is for me.
I look at this new year as the year that is the best year of my life so far. As I step into a greater conscious awareness of who I Am and what I am doing, I celebrate absolutely everything that has gone before, knowing it has prepared me for this moment and the moments to come.
I declare this year is filled with love and laughter, peace and prosperity, health and happiness. I know this for myself and all others.
With a grateful heart I release these words into spiritual law, knowing the Law works!
And So It Is.

In Religious Science we call our affirmative prayers Spiritual Mind Treatments. I offer this one to you as a gift for the new year:

The infinitely intelligent Creative Energy of Life is absolutely everywhere. It is the Source of all things, the Power behind all things. It is, and that is all there is. I am so grateful to know I am an expression of this Oneness. All that It is, I am.

I accept this Truth. All that Life is, I am. I now declare I am awake. As I step into this new year, I choose to consciously activate my spirituality and experience each moment as brand new. Nothing from my past - no beliefs or feelings - can stop me. I have released them with joy.

I now experience Life in Its fullness. My physical body is radiantly alive and healthy. My emotional body is clear and vibrant. My mental body is filled with beliefs that support the goodness of Life. I am open to receive all of Life's riches.

Each breath is the first breath of The Divine as me. Each thought is the first thought of The Divine as me. I live in present time.

With a grateful heart, I celebrate Life with every fiber of my being. I live joyfully. I accept that as I activate my Self, all the world joins me, and it is good, very good. And so it is.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Friday, December 28, 2007

It's hard to believe this is the last Friday of 2007 isn't it? If you're like me, along with your planning on how to celebrate the New Year, you're thinking about what you've achieved so far.

Rev. David Ault, a fabulous musician as well as an awesome minister, sent an e-mail I'd like to share with you … it's long, yet powerful. Read it through now, and let yourself think about these things. Then I suggest you set aside some time to go through the questions consciously. It is a wonderful way to be introspective and plan for the coming year at the same time:

Did I express love this year - real love? The kind of love that doesn't announce itself in flashy circumstance or structured conditions - but an authentic, quiet, internal love? The kind of love that bubbles to the surface when I gaze at another with understanding, a love that places me in their shoes, granting freedom from judgment and deepening my compassion? A philanthropic love that expresses because it simply feels compelled to, because it knows there is more than enough and everyone can benefit. If not, then I resolve to be and do better in my authentic loving.

Did I forgive this year - really forgive? The kind of forgiveness that cracks open my heart, peeling away one more layer of righteous indignation, thus allowing my soul to breathe? The kind of forgiveness that loosens my clinched fists held high at a situation so that I don't enter into the next one with guarded mistrust? The kind of forgiveness that comprehends there is a difference between understanding a behavioral choice and condoning it? If not, then I resolve to be and do better in my forgiving.

Did I stop this year - really stop? The kind of stopping that can't help but make me vulnerable by becoming more familiar with who I am without distraction, smoke screens, excuses or self-imposed numbing? The kind of stopping that turns me, naked, towards my feelings, giving them permission to express? No right or wrong - a stopping that simply lets me hear what I need to hear so that I can live more effectively? If not, then I resolve to be and do better in allowing myself to stop.

Did I seek adventure this year - real adventure? The kind of adventure that requires me to not only take a leap of faith off my cliff of familiarity but actually sends me back to get a running start? The kind of adventure that shakes the dust off my capable but underused wings and gives them an opportunity to catch the gorgeous wind of change? The kind of adventure that knows there is no outside safety net in this physical world, only an internal one? The kind of adventure that shouts, "I choose to live fully!" If not, then I resolve to be and do better in seeking adventure.

Did I seek wellness this year - real wellness? The kind of wellness that requires me to be fully conscious of what I put in my body - the kind of wellness that requires me to practice what I preach when it comes to self-love while understanding that the power to dissolve poor habits starts by simply choosing to change? Wellness that says, "This is the only body you've got. Treat me with respect,
praise me daily and honor me as the holy temple that I am?" If not,
then I resolve to be and do better in allowing wellness in my life.

Did I play this year - really play? The kind of play that gives value to the heavenly activity of fun -knowing that fun is sacred, that play is the equivalent of work and that during play - renewal and relaxation usher in the newest ideas and the clearest choices for better manifestations? Did I view play as a necessary life function and not a debatable luxury? If not, then I resolve to be and do better in my relationship to playing.

Did I set a goal and see it to completion this year -really complete it? The kind of completion that lets the vibration of satisfaction and confidence in my abilities heal any opposing ideas of not being good enough? Did I honor my life and its sacred purpose by utilizing my time with forward thinking and letting my mistakes be motivators not antagonists? Did I dissolve my insecurities and procrastination by understanding that my untapped genius has but one mode of expression and that is through idea, thought, word and action? If not, then I resolve to be and do better in setting and completing my goals.

Did I open myself up to learn this year - really learn? The kind of learning that entices me to enroll in being a student of life with thirst and enthusiasm? Did I set an intention for uncovering more of my potential, letting divine intellect eat from my plate and stepping deeper into the waters of wisdom? Did I open a book, take a class, study a language, learn an instrument, write a poem, visit another culture? Did I learn to surprise and thrill myself with the infinite capacity I have to master more than I thought I could? If not, then I resolve to be and do better on my personal path of learning.

Did I clean up my relationships this year - really clean them up? The kind of cleaning that requires me to break open the lock, pull back the curtain, throw open the window and start removing the dust of harsh words, grudges, false accusations and misguided choices that have layered my heart? Did I make amends for the fearful ways that disheartened another, for neglecting to honor their point of view? With careful examination, did I communicate my truth, understanding that sometimes all we may be able to do is agree to disagree and to do so without judgment or malice? If not, then I resolve to be and do better on cleaning up my relationships.

Did I share my good this year - really share? The kind of sharing that comes from the pure joy of seeing another succeed, not from what I think they can or will do for me in return? Did I tithe back to where I was spiritually fed, transformed and inspired? Did I practice random acts of kindness and give of my time, talent, and treasure realizing that my good is a part of a never-ending wellspring that cannot run dry -whose source is and always will be the infinite wellspring of the Divine? Did I commit to walking the altruistic path, remembering that every step brings healing and enlightenment to the world? If not, then I resolve to be and do better in my sharing.

Did I pray this year - really pray? The kind of prayer that is spoken not to God but AS God - prayers that affirm rather than beseech, are pregnant with knowing rather than bloated with doubt? Did I make my every day activities a prayer - realizing that every thought I think carries with it the responsibility of an effect on the world? Did I remember how truly powerful my own prayer actually is and that by simply devoting myself to the practice of it, I become the change? Did I remember that my prayer takes what I seek and introduces it to me, the seeker? If not, then I resolve to be and do better with praying.

Did I do all these things because deep down inside I fully understand how precious I am and that these activities will help me to see that I am held in the light as a perfect idea? Did I remember that I have been perfectly conceived and am always held in the perfect mind of God as perfect being? Did I know that there is nothing that I can ever say, nothing I can ever do that will separate me from the love of God? If for any reason, I forgot my divinity this year, then I resolve to be and do better in my knowing of it, to fully understand and embody the truth that it is done unto me as I believe. And I believe in the power of Good, for me, for you, for all.

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

Recognizing the powerful Presence that permeates all things, that surrounds us and fills us, I celebrate our conscious awareness of who we are and how we live our lives.

I choose to look back on this year with gratitude, no matter what happened. I see this past year as essential to my spiritual evolution. I know each word and deed was the right thing at the right time. I choose to see it as all good.

I now declare 2008 is my best year ever. I live more consciously than I ever have before. I relish each moment – moment by moment. Each is an opportunity to experience my Divinity. This is good, very good.

Gratefully I release my word into Law, knowing my intentions attract the perfect manifestations. I honour the powerful Presence of Great Good as It moves through me with grace and ease. And So It Is.

Grateful blessings to all those who have made donations to this e-mail ministry!

This morning while standing in line at a store I was getting very antsy. The cashier had been working with one person for quite a while. I found myself checking the other lines. I wanted to scream "Hurry up!!" or whine "Come on now, there's a long line here, get another cashier out here." I even wondered if I really wanted to buy what was in my basket right at that moment. And then I came to my Self.

It's easy to lose ones Self in the bustle of the holidays, isn't it? These are supposed to be holy days … not that the rest of the year isn't sacred, yet these particular days have been delineated as holy ones. These are the days to be honour the birth of Christ Consciousness or an awakening of the Light once again within us, and yet we spend them being really busy, allowing ourselves to get frustrated or anxious!

I took a deep breath and decided to do an eyes-open meditation. I noticed two little girls gazing with awe on the candy counter. "That's the biggest chocolate bar I've ever seen" said one breathlessly. Her sister agreed. Their eyes twinkled with joy. An older man and woman were holding hands in the next line as they discussed the gift they were buying for their grandchildren. Their eyes twinkled with love. I overheard a young woman on her cell phone talking about the puppy she'd bought for her husband. Her eyes were closed, but I could hear happiness in her voice. I felt blessed for being able to notice these things.

After awhile I no longer felt antsy. I didn't want to scream at anyone. I was making the most of the present moment. I thought about how I had remembered who I am – Spirit in form, and how remembering had changed my whole experience! Just then, a cashier tapped me on the shoulder and said "Follow me, I'm opening my till."

As I drove out of the parking lot, waiting behind a line of cars to make a left turn onto a very busy street, I decided to use the Creative Power to help us move into traffic. I thought about Moses parting the sea, and a huge space opened up. We were all able to make that turn.

Dr. Holmes writes on page 434 of the Science of Mind: "Everything our thought rests upon is either retarded or quickened by the power of that thought. Everyone is a law unto himself, under the great law of cause and effect governing all things.

When we constructively praise and creatively bless, life abounds with love, peace and joy. Let goodness shine forth. Let us learn to see that everyone is an evolving Christ."

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

The Infinite Creative Power of Great Good is right here, right now. It is the energy of Divine Love moving through me, creating peace. It is the energy of Infinite Intelligence growing my ideas into form. It is constantly creating me as an ever-expanding expression of Itself.

Today I choose to be creative instead of reactive. I acknowledge the busyness of the season, but do not let it affect me. I see the Presence of Great Good anywhere I am. It is within me and around me. There is no way I can get away from it. Even when I forget who I am, It is still there. If I do forget, I declare that Infinite Intelligence easily and effortlessly reminds me with love and humour.

All the days of my life are holy days. I am always walking on holy ground. How could it be any other way? All there is – is God

Gratefully I celebrate my constant return to my Self. God is Good – Great Good, and I accept Great Good into my life with joy. And so It is.

I drove by a church marquee today and read:

“If God is your co-pilot – swap seats.”

I’ve used that phrase “God is my co-pilot” many times …. Yet this morning I understood it at a deeper level. I’ve been saying it as if I am the one in charge – like I’m greater than God and God is here to assist me. It’s true – I am in charge here. God as the Law is here to assist me. I make the decisions and the Law does the work.

Yet, what if I did switch seats? What if I let God be the pilot, and I assisted It? Do I have the courage to totally turn my life over to God? God is an infinite field of creative potentiality. It is all knowing, everywhere present, all powerful. It is unconditionally loving, When I remember this, and let go, I trust, and Life works better than I ever imagined it could.

Does this mean I never make any decisions or intentions? No, of course not! It DOES mean I take my life to a deeper level, a level I could call surrender. Now surrender is not a word I like. I looked it up and the definitions seem so negative. Yet, the idea of surrendering that part of me that thinks it has to do everything all by itself sounds like a good idea. When I think of surrendering, I want to surrender to Love. God is Love.

Dr. Holmes defines Love in the glossary of the Science of Mind as:

“Love is the self-givingness of the Spirit through the desire of Life to express Itself in terms of creation. We are also told in the New Testament that “He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love.” Love is free from condemnation, even as it is free from fear. Love is a cosmic force whose sweep is irresistible.”

Fear – that’s what I’d like to surrender. Fear, doubt, and uncertainty.

Spirit Within is urging us to open to our expression of Itself, to surrender our littleness, to discover the greatness of who we really are. Yet it seems many have been so conditioned to believe we are not worthy that this can be an uncomfortable process. We can surrender that uncomfortableness! We can trust The Divine! Surrender to Love. Love heals. God is Love. It’s time to let God back into the pilot’s seat!!

(Our Centre is in the process of finding a new location. Please join us in KNOWING we already have it – see us sitting in our new sanctuary on the first Sunday of January, absolutely delighted with our demonstration.)

There is only One Perfect Presence, the infinite Source of all that is. It is absolutely everywhere, including within me.

I know my life is pure Spirit, taking form as all that I am - - as my body, my personality, my thoughts, my experiences, and more. I now see Spirit taking form as my Visions and desires. I know the Law works, so I let God do Its perfect work.

I see Spirit taking form as our Spiritual Home. It reflects the qualities of Spirit I resonate to. It reflects the beauty, serenity and peace of The Divine, yet it empowers and inspires me.

I am so grateful for the easy and effortless way everything comes about in my life and in the life of our Centre. I relax because God is in the pilot’s seat!! I release these words knowing they are done, and so It is.

The other day I noticed a friend wearing her “Complaint-free World” bracelet. I wonder where mine went? Did I make 21 days without complaining? NOT! If I had, you’d all have heard about it.

For the past three weeks we’ve been studying the power of prayer on Sunday mornings … What if all our complaining is really a cry for prayer?

What if the next time we felt ourselves starting to complain, we did a Spiritual Mind Treatment instead?

Ernest Holmes writes on page 152 of the Science of Mind:

“Prayer is constructive, because it enables us to establish closer contact with the Fountain of Wisdom, and we are less likely to be influenced by appearances around us – to judge “according to appearance.”

We can be creating a solution instead of compounding the problem!

Or what if when we heard someone else complaining, instead of joining them, we silently stated the Truth about the situation?

Ernest Holmes writes on the same page:

“Prayer has stimulated countless millions of people to higher thoughts and nobler deeds.”

With the busyness of the season, the crowded streets and parking lots, the long lines in traffic and in the stores, etc., instead of complaining – let’s Treat!!

SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT

There is only One Life – that Life is God’s Life, and this is the Life I am living. I am so pleased to know this Truth, and to let It express though me each and every day.

I am grateful for the ability to drop my need to complain. Life is about solutions and is bigger than any challenge I can attract to myself.

I celebrate my ability to be a force for good in my own life as well as the lives of others. I am so grateful to have a tool for changing my consciousness – Spiritual Mind Treatment. I know that as I change my consciousness, I make a difference in the world.

This is good, very good. I accept the power of my word and release it to the Law, knowing it is already so. And so it is.
